Applewood Learning Center Applewood is a non-profit early care and education program for children from 6 weeks-12 years. Children learn about their world through play.

Philosophy: At the Applewood Learning Center, we believe that each child is an individual with his/her own set of emotional, social, cognitive and physical needs and that learning is an on-going process in which each child learns at his or her own pace. Our programs are designed to facilitate the child’s development in a non-competitive, supportive atmosphere. A child’s play is the cornerstone in the foundation of his or her development. Applewood Learning Center provides an environment that stimulates and encourages a child’s natural desire to learn. We learn most about children through our partnerships with families. We rely on mutual respect and trust with families and appreciate the diversity they bring to our community to help our children grow to their full potential.

We are so excited to announce our first Pyramid Model Champion of the Month...Dylan Juneau. Dylan is being honored for his demonstration of exceptional Pyramid Model practices in his daily work. We have a display in the lobby that shares his picture, nomination, and showcases the trophy that he’ll get to keep when the next PM Champion is named. Thank you to the people who nominated - we appreciate your involvement! We’re so excited that we can showcase the phenomenal work of our talented staff. Congratulations, Dylan! 🍎

Yesterday, some of our PS friends helped a toddler who was feeling sad by singing to her. Whenever they stopped singing, she would get upset, and the minute they started up again, she would settle back down. This is more of the magic of mixed age grouping!

Dylan helped PS1 install their new Tonie storage shelf. Dylan explained what the anchors were for and how they worked. Once the anchors were placed each child got to come and help by hammering the anchors into place. Next he lined up the shelf and then the Preschoolers got to help screw the screws into the wall. The preschoolers loved being a part of the process and took so much pride in seeing their hard work come together! Thanks Dylan for your help! 🍎🔨🪛

Our friends in IT1, one of whom has an intense love of trucks, took a little field trip to watch the demolition of the car wash next door today. Some children were very excited while others communicated that they were nervous. Our skilled teachers worked with the children to to label and work through the wide array of emotions! It was a learning experience for all! 🍎🚚🏗
