NACM has been one of the largest non-denominational associations of church musicians and other worship leaders in North America for 75 years. From humble beginnings in Los Angeles in 1938, NACM has grown to embrace members from coast to coast.
Sadly, DAVID THORSEN, our colleague, friend, teacher, professor emeritus and founding director of Cal State University Fullerton's choral music program and past president (from 1969-1971) of Choral Conductor's Guild/National Association of Church Musicians passed away Sunday, October 10th. Our prayers are with his extended family, colleagues and friends and the thousands of his students who owe so much to his leadership and learned so much from him. Rest in Peace, David.

IN MEMORIAM
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As some of you have probably already heard, we have lost a dear friend and colleague this week. The news is best articulated by his daughter, Holly, on the new page, Remembering Doug Fischer:
Dear Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this: My father, Doug Fischer, suffered a major heart attack yesterday afternoon (6/13) and passed away very suddenly. Our family is beyond devastated at this terrible loss and we know that the music community is grieving with us. Please share memories on this website below, we will be informing everyone about services and a memorial concert when the time is right. We appreciate your love and support at this terrible time. He was a larger than life man and his loss will be sorely felt by everyone who knew him. Feel free to also email us at: [email protected]. Please share this page with anyone and everyone. We want to fill it with memories of my lovely father. on facebook or in messenger
I know that your prayers and support, like mine, will be with the Fischer family, those he ministered to and with at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irvine, and his students and colleagues—past and present—at Pioneer Middle School in Tustin.
May the peace of Christ be with us all,
Dan - President, National Association of Church Musicians
