🏆💚🖤 Our First KNIGHT of the Quarter Ceremony! 🖤💚🏆

Today, Maple High School celebrated our very first Knight of the Quarter Ceremony! 🎉

Each advisor selected two outstanding students from their advisory who demonstrated exceptional skills and personal growth in one of our Gateway Keys. These students were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to becoming the best versions of themselves!

In addition, four students received the special Principal’s Knight of the Quarter Award for their outstanding accomplishments and growth! 🌟

We are incredibly proud of all our students and the progress they have made during our first quarter of the Innovation Academy. It’s exciting to see our Knights growing, challenging themselves, and embracing new opportunities!

👏 Congratulations to all of our honorees! We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next quarter!

Today was a special first for Maple High School! 💚🖤

Our entire school participated in our first all-school Leave to Learn, traveling to Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria for their Career Fair Exposition!

Students had the opportunity to explore the college campus through tours, visit career booths, and connect with potential employers from throughout our area. They were able to ask questions, learn about different career pathways, and discover opportunities that could be part of their future after high school.

And, of course, students were treated to lunch along the way! 🍽️

At Maple, we believe learning extends far beyond the classroom. Experiences like today give our students the chance to see possibilities, make connections, and begin imagining what their own future could look like.

A huge thank you to Allan Hancock College for welcoming our students and providing such a valuable experience!

A great morning spent at Buellton Advanced Materials, aka Lockheed Martin. BAM provides several services of great importance. From coating high confidential material to utilizing cryo chambers, this facility is an amazing space for our leave to learn!

🤖 A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORTERS! 🖤💚

We want to give a huge shoutout to David Miller, Systems Engineer with Amentum LLC, and Todd Canterbury, Systems Engineer with Kihomac LLC, for their generous donation of robotics carrying boxes to Maple High School!

These boxes will help our students safely transport their robots as they head out to competitions and represent Maple. 🤖🏆

Support like this makes a real difference as we continue creating more hands-on, real-world learning opportunities for our students. We are incredibly grateful to David and Todd for investing in our students and supporting our growing robotics program.

LEAVE TO LEARN: LOMPOC’S MISSIONS

Today, Anna’s advisory took their learning beyond the classroom with a Leave to Learn experience exploring both the historic La Purísima Mission and the current mission as part of their community-based project.

Students at Maple are currently working on projects focused on Lompoc; our history, our community, and the places that help tell its story. Anna’s advisory chose to focus on the missions and spent today gathering information, making observations, and experiencing firsthand what they have been learning about.

This hands-on experience will help students prepare for their upcoming class exhibition, where they will present their learning in just a few weeks.

At Maple, we have transitioned to a project-based learning model for all students, giving students opportunities to learn through real experiences, explore their interests, connect with their community, and create meaningful work.

This is what learning can look like when we take it beyond the classroom. 💚🖤

🏙️ STUDENT VOICE • COMMUNITY CONNECTION • REAL-WORLD LEARNING

Today, Maple High School welcomed Lompoc City Councilmember and 2026 mayoral candidate Jeremy Ball to one of our classrooms.

Students in this class are working on a community-based project centered around an important question: What is missing in Lompoc for teens?

Students are exploring what kinds of spaces and activities they wish existed in our community and designing their own ideas for teen spaces in Lompoc. Jeremy joined the conversation, listened to their ideas, and answered questions about why students feel there aren’t enough fun and engaging opportunities for teens in our community.

He also shared information about his campaign and priorities as a candidate for Lompoc mayor. This was a great real-world follow-up to our recent voter registration event and another opportunity for students to learn about local government, civic engagement, and the importance of having a voice in their community. The City of Lompoc’s 2026 municipal election will be held November 3.

With 40% of our students now eligible to vote in the upcoming election, these conversations are especially meaningful as we help students become informed and engaged members of their community.
