After many rainy days spent indoors, the children all enjoyed playing outside today. From looking for bugs in the garden, riding bicycles, and blowing bubbles with friends — playing outdoors provides many opportunities for children to grow, interact with others, and explore the world around them.

雨続きの3月でしたが、今日は久しぶりにお天気に恵まれ、外で思いっきり遊んでいる子どもたちの姿を見ると、心からほっとします。子どもの成長において、自然の中で五感を大いに使いながら遊ぶことは最も大切なことの一つです。

汗をかきながら走り回ったり、
泥んこになりながらおだんごを作ったり、
目を凝らしてダンゴムシを探したり、
そのどれもが子どもたちの成長に、
そして幸せな未来へつながっています。

For today’s school lunch, the children had roasted beet and potato soup and ham and cheese sandwiches! They all enjoyed dipping their sandwiches into their warm bowls of soup 🥣 We wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day!

ビーツのポタージュ
あずきのクッキーとカルピコ

ビーツを一度ローストすることで甘味を出し、じゃがいもと一緒に煮込み、滑らかな舌触りに。丁寧にじっくりコトコト煮込んだポタージュはバレンタインデーにぴったりのかわいいピンク色になりました😊　
気温の低い日が続きますが、栄養満点ご飯を毎日たくさん食べて、元気に乗り越えようね！

Eating healthy food is very important because it of course makes your body healthy, but it protects you from many diseases such as heart diseases and cancer. You can keep your bones and teeth strong as well. Strong bones and teeth will lead to protecting your internal organs and providing support for your muscles. It will also help your mental to be stable and prevent us from being moody or emotional. “Eating healthy food fills your body with energy and nutrients. Today’s school lunch was ehoumaki for setsubun! Before lunch, the children participated in mamemaki, throwing beans at the oni and shouting, “Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!” After driving away the evil spirits and wishing for good luck, the children looked forward to eating ehoumaki. Rainbow and Starlight friends made their own rolls — spreading sushi rice on nori and adding cucumbers, cheese, and ham before rolling them up and taking a big bite!

恵方巻き

「鬼は外ー！福は内ー！」
子どもたちの元気な声が響いた今日。
みんなの心の中の小さな鬼たちも慌てて逃げ出してくれたかな。
節分は「鬼が来る怖い日」ではなく、「心を正す大切な日」。そして、文字通り「季節を分ける＝春の訪れを楽しむ日」。子どもたちにも少しでも伝わったら嬉しいな。
またみんなで一緒に歌おう！
「おにはそと〜♪ ふくはうち〜♪ ぱらっぱらっぱらっぱらっ　まめのおと〜　おにはこっそりにげていく〜♪」

Today’s school lunch was penne pasta with homemade vegetable tomato sauce! The children were excited to begin eating — with everyone asking for seconds! By the end of the meal, their bellies were satisfied, and many of them had tomato sauce around their mouths!

Today was our first school lunch of the year! The children had ozoni, New Year Mochi Soup, filled with plenty of vegetables, fish cakes, and rice dumplings. The soup warmed their bellies as they pointed out their favorite vegetables — “I found a carrot!”

お雑煮風米粉のすいとん
フルーツ

新年なので、今日のランチはお雑煮風。
細かく刻んだほうれん草とターメリックをすいとんに混ぜ込み、かわいい緑色と黄色に。お花のにんじんも浮かべ、彩り鮮やか。目からも楽しめる心温まるランチでした。

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break! Along with welcoming the new year, we welcome new friends and their families this month!

After the last few rainy weeks, the children have been excited to play outside — making bubbles, racing around the yard, riding bicycles, and building sandcastles.

This month, school lunches are on Wednesday, January 18th, and Thursday, January 26th.

Our School Lunch Program begins this month! Because parents often ask what they should put in their child’s bento, this is a great way to provide some helpful, healthy examples. And when the children eat with each other, they may be more eager to try less-preferred foods, like certain vegetables, when they see their friends enjoying their meals. With these lunches, we hope the children expand their tastes and try new, nutritious foods!

The first menu features rice dumpling soup and fresh fruit. The children will help make the dumplings using rice flour!

The second menu is cream soup with a medley of vegetables and homemade bread with vegetables.

School Lunch Program はじめます！

「小さい子供のお弁当に何を詰めればいいのか分からない」「うちの子、野菜を食べないので困っています」というご相談を受けることがあります。そんなお母さんたちの少しでもお役に立てたら…という思いから、12月からEducation Linkでは月に2回の手作りランチを始めることにしました。お弁当作りのちょっとしたヒント(&息抜き)になれば嬉しいです🙇‍♀️

目的:
-野菜を中心とした体に優しい食材楽しむ
-いろいろな国の食文化に触れることで国際感覚を養う

12月のメニュー
⭐️ お米のすいとん、野菜たっぷりのスープで。フルーツ。

⭐️冬野菜のクリームスープと手作り野菜パン、フルーツ。
