FAQ: If I don’t have time to volunteer, does joining really matter?

Yes! Every membership helps us build a stronger, more representative PTA.

Our mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

Joining gives you a voice in Schafer’s events and initiatives. It helps us better understand what our families value—even if volunteering or attending meetings isn’t right for you.

There is no expected time commitment. Just join, stay connected, and participate in the ways that work for you.

FAQ: Do I have to attend PTA meetings?

No. We'd love to see you, but attendance is completely optional.

We share meeting summaries and regular email updates so members can stay informed in the way that works best for their schedules. You can also share your ideas and preferences through planning surveys without adding another meeting to your calendar.

If you do decide to attend, meetings are held in the Schafer Library (LRC), and many members bring their kids to play or read in the space during the meeting. We do our best to keep meetings to 1 hour, and attendees are welcome to arrive and leave as they need to! Virtual (Zoom) meeting options are also available for each meeting.

FAQ: How much does it cost to join the Schafer PTA?

A single membership is just $8, and a double membership is $12.

Today is the day!

We're looking forward to seeing lots of Schafer families at our annual Back to School Picnic, TODAY at Lombard Lagoon from 5-7 pm.

The Schafer PTA will provide hot dogs, water, and paper goods, and we ask families to bring a dish or snack to share if they are able! Kona Ice will also be on-site with flavored ice available for purchase. Please join us -- we hope to see you there!

FAQ: Do I have to be a Schafer parent to join?

Not at all! Schafer PTA membership is open to:

• Parents and guardians
• Grandparents and extended family
• Teachers and staff
• Neighbors and community members
• Anyone who wants to support Schafer students

You don’t need to have a child currently attending Schafer to become part of our PTA community.
