LLU SAHP OT Students in Action 🔬💙

At last week's 2026 OT Research Colloquium our students put their research on display and shared what they've been working on with an auditorium filled with guests.
The evening began in the auditorium where speakers and students presented before bringing posters out for attendees to explore and discuss. Watching our students speak about their work with confidence offered a sentimental glimpse at the bright future of occupation therapy taking shape right here at Loma Linda University.

Here's to our students who are already making their mark and the faculty helping prepare them for what's coming next 🙏

Summer is a season for mission trips. 🌎💙 Over the years, these opportunities have taken SAHP students beyond the classroom to learn through experience, serve others and see their professions in new settings.
And as this summer’s mission trip season winds down, we’re looking back at some of the stories, lessons and memories from years past while celebrating all that these experiences continue to bring to our students.

Featuring mission trip moments with SAHP's Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Physician Assistant, and Nutrition and Dietetics to China, Mexico, Peru, and Kenya 💪 🗣️ 🥗 🩺

LLU SAHP's Cardiac Electrophysiology, AS students are entering a specialized healthcare field that many people don't realize is an entry-level healthcare career path option. ❤️

Supporting the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders, Cardiac electrophysiology professionals play an essential role alongside physicians during advanced cardiac procedures. Through a combination of online coursework and immersive clinical experiences in dedicated electrophysiology labs, our students develop the technical expertise, critical thinking, and teamwork needed to prepare sterile fields and advanced equipment, monitor patients, and contribute to patient care within specialized cardiac teams.

A glimpse into one of our Master of Occupational Therapy OTA/PTA Bridge program on-campus intensives. ✂️🖍️

It might just look like arts and crafts, but there's much more at work here. Students practiced administering the Miller Function and Participation Scales (MFUN), a pediatric assessment used to evaluate a child's motor, visual, and participation skills through play-based activities.
While coursework for the MOT program is completed online, students also come together for on campus intensives like these, combining hands-on learning with a few moments that remind us learning can be fun too. 😊🤍

If you've watched LLUH's Live It: The Kitchen series, you probably recognize the host as LLU SAHP's very own Chef Cory. But this episode features a special guest host, SAHP Nutrition and Dietetics graduate student Tori Llerena! 🤩👏
As Tori prepares Vegan Mexican Meatball (Albóndigas) Soup, she shares the story behind this family recipe and the influence her grandfather had on her love of food. After her own experience with prediabetes, she discovered how nutrition could transform her health. That journey led her to answer her calling through LLU's Coordinated Program in Nutrition and Dietetics, where she gained the knowledge and hands-on experience to turn that passion into a career serving others.
