PCAP at the Academy and PTECH at LHS

Today our PCAP Chapter 1 students visited JA Finance Park. JA Finance Park is an immersive financial literacy program for middle and high school students, featuring classroom curriculum followed by a real-life simulation. Students receive a hypothetical persona (income, debt, family) and must build a balanced budget, covering housing, food, and utilities. It teaches practical skills.

We could not take our kids to awesome places like JA Finance Park without our amazing volunteers! Thanks for donating your time and talents ladies!!!

Volunteering at Finance Park for Logansport students!

Over the past few weeks, our PCAP students have been diving into the Columbian Exchange, and what an incredible journey it’s been! To wrap up the unit, scholars created their own menus featuring both New World and Old World ingredients, then brought their ideas to life by cooking and serving their dishes to the Academy staff!

This project-based learning experience beautifully blended English, math, and World History standards, allowing students to apply their learning in a meaningful, hands-on way. The pride on their faces as they served their meals and shared their knowledge was truly something special. We are so proud of their hard work, creativity, and growth!

Yesterday our PCAP chapter 1 scholars took their cardboard arcade creations to our friends at Columbia Elementary School… the 3rd and 4th grade classes got to play the games our young scholars built! What a great way to kick off our Thanksgiving Break! We are so thankful for our partnerships in our district ❤️❤️

Our PTECH Chapter 2 scholars have been working on their mock trial unit, applying their skills of persuasive writing and research to assume the roles of defense, judge, or prosecution. The young scholars read Roald Dahl's short story, "Lamb to the Slaughter". They had two community partners share their expertise… Lawyer Jon Myers discussed court procedures and all things law with the students… Detective Mike Morphet shared with the students the ins and outs of crime scene investigation. The project culminated with the mock trial, where our PCAP Chapter 1 students served as the jury!

Our PCAP chapter 1 scholars had a special guest today. Cindy Heinzman from Modern Real Estate talked with students about the process of creating a business plan and purchasing commercial property. Thank you to Cindy for sharing her time and talents with our students ❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️

Last week our PCAP chapter 1 scholars packed shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. They had a great time helping our community and bring joy to children across the world.
