To be a Wildcat is to be part of a community defined by a proud heritage of excellence. True traditions of success endure only when we take the time to celebrate the achievements that paved the way.

In that spirit, at 7pm before the opening kickoff of Thursday's game against Man, Logan High School is honored to officially recognize the 1948 and 1949 Aracoma High School Bulldogs for their back-to-back state football championships.

By hanging banners in Willis-Nisbet Stadium, we will permanently enshrine the legacy of Coach Lacy Smith and his remarkable teams, guaranteeing their history is celebrated by our community for generations.

Day 1 ✅

Thank you to the parents, grandparents, and families of Logan High School for sending us your best today. Your children were incredible!

BLUE AND GOLD DAY: Tomorrow is blue and gold day as we honor, celebrate, and remember the life and legacy of legendary Logan High School coach Willie Akers.

CLASS MEETINGS: Starting with seniors on Monday, Mr. Anderson will be doing class meetings during enrichment. Tuesday will be juniors, Wednesday sophomores, and Thursday will be freshmen.

SENIORS: Early Release forms are available with Mr. Anderson.

CLASS CHANGES: If you are needing a class change, please complete the class change form and leave it with your designated counselor o give them time to process them.

PEP RALLY: Our first pep rally of the year will be Thursday as we get hyped to take on the Man Hillbillies!

Sports:

Volleyball and Soccer both open their seasons today. Soccer will be home at 6:30, and volleyball is on the road for a tri-match.

Football has their final scrimmage tomorrow night against Tolsia HS on The Island at 7:30.

Always remember, it’s a great day to be a Wildcat, wherever you may be!

Please note an exciting new change! Senior Early Release. Forms will be given to seniors tomorrow regarding early release, and class meetings will take place Monday with seniors during enrichment.

Forms are to be returned to Mr. Anderson beginning this Friday, and will be accepted until next Friday, August 28 to allow for consistency in getting schedules adjusted.

Funeral services for Coach Willie Akers will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the Willie Akers Arena (Logan Fieldhouse). Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services will start at 2 p.m.

Full obituary will be posted as soon as it is available.

James Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Akers family.

Logan High and the Logan community lost a legend this week in Coach Willie Akers. This Friday we are asking all Logan High staff and students to wear blue and gold in honor of Coach Akers. 🔵🟡

It saddens us to learn that Coach Willie Akers has passed away

Coach Akers lead his Runnin’ Wildcats to four state championships in 1964, 1977, 1978, and 1983 compiling a 402-116 record. His impact and legacy has inspired generations of Wildcats both on and off the court and the foundations he laid for Logan basketball will be felt for generations to come
