Alternative Breaks is a service organization through the Val R. Christensen Service Center at Utah State University.

Students that participate in alternative breaks sacrifice their vacation time to serve in other communities. Serving in various communities, students learn about the many problems that these communities face. While reaching out and aiding these communities, students impact the lives of those receiving the service and their own lives as well.

During Alt Breaks 2015, 2016, and 2017, USU alt breakers worked hard in this garden alongside its caretaker, Daniel Watman. The US side was recently and unexpectedly bulldozed, but volunteers and community members stood up for the space and were allowed to replant this weekend.
