🧲✨ Science is magnetic! ✨🧲
Our Grade 3 & 4 scientists explored how magnets interact with one another! 🔍 Through hands-on testing, we discovered that magnets can attract and pull together or repel and push apart.
So much curiosity, discovery, and magnetic investigation fun! 💫🔬❤️

What's the MATTER with Fun Friday! This Friday 1st and 2nd discovered matter and how things can be a solid liquid or gas with this fun apple volcano. We tied our literacy standards to this activity by reading The Bad Apple and creating our name in an apple basket counting our vowels and constants. Our name baskets are displayed in the hall by our classroom. 🍎 here's a snapshot of our fun Friday!

It's sweet to be at St. John on a Friday! Fun Friday was math based, as 1st and 2nd grade students had to work on their task cards independently in two teams to fill their Popsicle puzzles up and unlock the sweet sweet prize waiting on the other side. Of course the victory of working collaboratively, following directions and applying this weeks math vocabulary paid off for all students as we enjoyed a Popsicle in the afternoon heat! This math lesson was a hit!

A re-cap from our past Friday fun incase you missed the action our Fun Friday was literacy based, We read Not Norman, parents may have been suprised to see the kiddos 😅 coming home with a fake fish in a cup of water lol love Mrs. Stilwel!... oh but they could name the parts of a story, main character and the conflict when we were finished 😆 and fun was had and memories were made!

I read the book outloud discussing main character, beginning, middle and end. We discussed what would happen next, what we thought would happen if it had been a different pet ect. After reading, students followed directions to cut, color and construct the fish and then they decorated the cup with sharpie and their names for fun. I let them walk to the water fountain and fill and walk back to practice multi-step directions and responsibility. When they returned from specials they had their very own fish. Thank you all for supporting my classroom literacy unit! 😉

Fun Friday St. John School summary of science unit: sunlight & energy. Today we painted with spf to see what reaction would happen on black paper after it sat in the sun. Students painted their names this was a way to incorporate our Bible lesson from Genesis/ creation when God created the world he created light and dark, he also creates us and he calls us by name. This was a student led project this week as we collected facts from our science leveled readers and provided recall on our whole group poster. Way to go 1st & 2nd graders 🌞

Welcome Back, St. John friends!

We had a wonderful first week back!
It was so good to see our returning students and welcome new friends to our St. John family.

We’re looking forward to a great year filled with learning, growth, and lots of memories!
