Summer Meal Programs & Fun Food Stops

Hello families!
Here’s to keeping kids fed, families supported, and grocery receipts just a little less dramatic this season.
Now that the kids have been out of school for a couple of weeks, your grocery budget may already be waving a tiny white flag. Between snacks, lunches, second lunches, and “I’m still hungry” moments every hour, summer can get expensive fast.
The good news? There are several summer meal sites and programs happening in our community. These can be a fun outing for the kids, a chance to connect with others, and a little relief for your food budget. Since most are free or low-cost
A few reminders:
Most programs are free, but it’s always a good idea to check details directly with each organization.
Some sites offer eat-on-site meals, while others may provide grab-and-go options.
Many programs include games, activities, or community events along with meals.
Why it’s worth checking out
Helps stretch the summer grocery budget.
Gives kids a chance to get out of the house and socialize.
Connects families with other community resources and activities.

If your kitchen suddenly feels like a 24-hour diner and your kids think the fridge restocks itself by magic, you are definitely not alone. These programs exist because summer food costs are real, and communities work best when we help each other out.

Local churches and community centers are offering summer lunches and activities. Make sure to check out Friday meals at Hocking Hills Church. They will have a mobile resource fair as well as a pizza lunch for the kiddos.
The Logan-Hocking Library has its storytime and summer meal program. https://www.loganhockinglibrary.org/

Farewell, my wonderful 4th graders, I am so incredibly proud of everything you’ve accomplished this year. I have loved watching you grow over the years. Always remember to stay curious, work hard and be your wonderful selves. Our Project SAFE staff will always be cheering you on.

Students at Chieftain made Kazoos with Mrs. Stephanie during her last visit of the year. They make quite a band of musicians! Thanks Stephanie for always bringing exciting and fun activities to our program.
