Do you have a child that is between 18 and 36 months old?
Are you concerned about supporting your child’s early development?
Do you want fun ideas to better support your child’s early development?
Do you have a device that can use skype or facetime?
Help us learn about ideas for parents to support early child development.
You will receive:
• a video of you and your child playing together
• development information about your child
• information about your strengths as a parent
• ideas for developmentally supportive play with your child
Project details
A student researcher from the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at USU will visit with you 2-6 times for 30-45 min each time via an online meeting website (Zoom).
You will learn about your child’s development and how you can have fun supporting it. You will find out ways that you are already supporting your child’s development and new ideas for activities to do with your child. You will also answer an online survey asking for basic information about you, your child, and how you are doing.

As we head toward Thanksgiving, the HOPED team wants to share their appreciation for the people who helped invite families to participate and for the families who participated in visits! HOPED was an important step toward showing the value of Professor Roggman's team's parent-child-interaction measure for young infants, PICCOLO+B. Update: Krista Gurko's dissertation was successfully written and defended and she now has been awarded a PhD in Family and Human Development. The dissertation is public and can be reached and shared here:

Hello HOPED participants and friends! Thank you again for helping us better understand the experience of parents with young infants. In addition to supporting the field of parenting research (which includes surprisingly few a) parents and young infants with b) repeat visits c) in past 15 years), you are also helping me and another student graduate.
Thank you to everyone who has already participated in a visit #2 (baby 14-month old). For those of you still looking forward to a visit, it will be the next few months. You are truly helping inform services for parents and infants.
Also, if you are interested in extra follow up visits after your infant turns 14 months let us know!
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions. Thank you again! (435) 797-1545 or (206) 271-2513

HOPE-D has been extended! We have come so far. Thanks to all the families who have participated and the people who helped spread the word - this would not be possible without you.
Still looking for about 10 more parents of 3-7 month old infants to meet in their homes for play time, developmental activities, and parent questionnaires. Call or text (206) 271-2513 for more information. Thank you again!
*In case you're curious: HOPE-D has met with families in four states, covering over 5,000 miles to reach them. It has been a privilege to work with so many families in the past few months.*

One more week left to meet with parents and their 3-7 month old babies for HOPE-D! Simple description: parent and baby play together for 10 minutes (video recorded), I play developmental games with the baby with the parent's support, the parent fills out a few short questionnaires. Ideally we can meet again when the baby is 14 months old.
If you or someone you know are a parent of a young baby who lives within 2.5 hour drive of Logan, it would be great to have your help.
Thank you so much to everyone who has helped HOPE-D by taking time to meet for home visits and/or helping spread the word to parents of young babies! This project, and my therefore my degree, would not be possible without YOU.
