The R-Word has a very painful history. It started as a neutral medical term, but quickly turned into a way to mistreat and demean those with intellectual disabilities. The R-word has been removed from language in laws and documents, so why would we continue the use of a word that causes pain? Refrain, Rethink, Rephrase. Spread the word to end the word. We are challenging everyone across USU’s campuses to Refrain, Rethink, and Rephrase to combat the use of the R-word.
