In Upper School Entrepreneurship, students are given real-world challenges that make an impact on the community!

For the first challenge of the year, our students are working with Lehman College's Department of Student Affairs. The question they will answer is: How can Lehman generate additional funding to help more students get involved, develop leadership skills, and feel connected to campus, and how should those funds be used? Over the next several weeks, our students will research, collaborate, and develop practical solutions to this challenge. We can't wait to hear their ideas!

In honor of World Quaker Day, this morning, wherever we were and whatever we were doing, our entire school paused for five minutes to take a collective moment of silence. On the heels of our first Peace Vigil last week, both events reminded us of what we can achieve together when we take the time to truly listen to each other.

Led by members of our Middle School student TASQUE committee (Teachers and Students for Quaker Understanding and Education), we heard stories of our students' family origins, family traditions, and family history as they asked us to think about our own place within our larger FA story.

"To carry a story is to remember it, so that the next time you see that person, you see a little more of who they really are."

Cheers to Fall Fair & Homecoming 150!

Thank you to all who came out and supported on the sunny Saturday of celebration and FAmily. The day was filled our students making unforgettable memories and our alumni reminiscing on their time together at FA. Our sesquicentennial toast led by Head of School Rik Dugan and Co-President of the Board of Trustees officially kicked us off into 150th celebrations.

Early Decision can be a stressful time in a senior's academic journey, but at FA, our College Office are experts in guiding our seniors through challenge and success. Recently, they shared best practices with the Class of 2027 on the Early Action, ED, and ED2 process – from when to release test scores and send out your Common App, to tips on visiting schools and criteria for choosing teacher recs, and when to start working on your regular decision apps (hint: it's earlier than you think!) Throughout the journey to making a final decision, Director of College Counseling Edward Dugger shared this piece of advice: "Next year you will not be together... So, be there for each other through successes and disappointments. And, while you are together, what will you want to remember about each other?"

From History, Medicine, Investment, and Math to Civil Discourse, Chess, Real Estate, Sports, Robotics, Sustainability, and more, our annual Upper School Club and Committees Fair allows our students to chart their own unique path through passion and purpose. With all the organizations to join, there was something for everyone! Find out more about how our Student Life Program forms the core of our leadership curriculum at our upcoming (and only) Upper School Open House on Thurs. Oct. 22 at 9:30 am.

“We’re going to challenge them. We’re going to support them. We’re preparing them for high school in a way that they wouldn’t get prepared anywhere else.” - Ms. Bo****no, Middle School English

At Back to School Night, Middle School teachers spoke to parents about the heart of adolescent transformations — what it means to meet high standards, how to learn from challenges and setbacks, and how to navigate new complexities in academics. Parents of prospective Middle School students (Grades 5-8) can sit in the same seats that our current parents did on Back-to-School Night. Join us for our Open House on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 9:30 am! RSVP using the link in our bio.
