Our students have had a blast keeping the beat with rhythm stick songs with Ms. Muller in music class this week! Our talented 2nd graders took it a step further by leveling up their solfège singing skills. 🎤✨

Counting with creativity!! Our kindergarten mathematicians in Ms. Powell's class are shaping numbers with clay and practicing using ten frames- learning through play while developing pre-writing strength. Some skills being developed include number recognition, counting/one-one correspondence, fine motor development, hands-on learning, and number word connection.

In Ms. Lee’s first-grade classroom, students are learning that they can share and represent their thinking in many ways. During Math Workshop, students thought independently about whether they preferred cats or dogs, then used a cat fish or dog bone to represent their choice on the class anchor chart.

Students then revisited the Math Workshop guideline, “I will talk about my thinking in math.” They then discussed ways to solve problems independently or with a partner. Students learned that they can show their thinking by drawing pictures, writing numbers, or using sentences to explain how they solved a problem.

📚 We had a wonderful first week in the library! It was so much fun kicking off another great year of reading together!

📖 Book checkouts begin this week! Students will have the opportunity to choose a book to bring home and enjoy. Please help your child remember to keep library books in a safe place at home and return them on their library day so they can choose something new.

And don’t forget—library books are meant to be enjoyed together! Snuggle up, read together, talk about the pictures, or let your child read the story to you. Every little bit of reading counts! ❤️

Mrs. Mitchell's class started their Civics and Diversity unit last week in Social Studies. This unit has the students focusing on rules and laws within our community, school, and classroom. They are learning why rules and laws help keep us safe. They are also learning different ways we can be helpers within our school and community. Friday, they focused on ways to compromise and share, and how they can help make a situation better.
