I can’t say enough of how proud I am of these kids. They faced one of the best teams in the country, Altus junior high. I knew it would be a fight to the end, and it was. The trip to Altus is 4.5 hours. We got there 30 minutes before our flight. My archers got off the bus, stretched for a little bit and it was time to shoot. They knew our competition was tough and that they were going to have to perform well if they were to be victorious. They also knew we were missing one of our best boys who woke up extremely sick and could not make the trip. They did not have their best day of the year, but it was still a highly respectable score. We ended up beating Altus by a slim margin, coming out as tournament champions! So proud of them!
We have become pretty good friends with the kids and coaches from Altus and we highly respect their program. Their kids are well coached and super respectful. We truly enjoy this rivalry we have with them.

We’re staying here tonight and going to explore the Witchita mountains tomorrow before heading home. We did this last year as well but it was 40 degrees with a 30 mph north wind. They are looking forward to tomorrow. It is going to be 75 degrees with calm winds! It’s turning into a fabulous weekend!

We had a few individual medalists.
Jay Vann placed 3rd with a 289
Addison Bendabout placed 3rd with a 281
Kelsey Cox placed 2nd with a 282

Congrats to the HS as well. They also walked away as champions!

It is pretty obvious that team 1 at LGMS is full of some talented kids. I believe that our team 2 and team 3 is one of the reasons of our success. Take a look at those flames. A flame represents a PR in a tournament. Team 2 and team 3 were packed tight of PR's on Saturday. They just keep getting better and pushing team 1. They keep fighting for a spot on the top team. When you have big time competition in your own room, everyone gets better! This team 2 and 3 will continue to press on and improve, I have no doubt!

We had a great day in Salina! It was a sweep for all 3 LG teams in bullseye and 3D!

Our bullseye score was a 3370, the second highest score in the country so far (we also have the highest score shot so far this year). Our 3D score was a phenomenal 1705, also the highest score shot in the country this year! This is a very talented group of kids and I’m fortunate to get to watch them grow every week. We had a ton of personal bests today!

We had 3 JH teams shooting in the tournament today. I will make another post about team 2 and team 3. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that our team success is driven by the fact that our team 2 and team 3 push the team 1! They deserve their own recognition.

Be proud LG!

Pretty proud of this one! Yes. It says 2nd place. Let me tell you why this one is so awesome.

I took 48 “B” team archers to the Nock Ninja tournament. They would be shooting against other school’s A team, as a lot of schools don’t have enough kids for multiple teams. My kids were able to shoot well enough to take home 2nd place and 2 individual medals! I dont even like to call them a “B” team because they really aren’t. Our A team is so good because they know there are 50 kids behind them wanting to take their spot! The competition in our facility is fierce! They are back at it again on a Thursday at Sand Springs!
Check out those scores. A flame beside the name means that score was a PR.

I told you all last week this team could be scary! They went to Wagoner today and had themselves a phenomenal day! They took 1st place in bullseye and 3D. Both scores were incredible, especially for being the 2nd tournament of the year! We’re not done. We are going to find a way to keep getting better!

I’ll post more on individuals, probably tomorrow. This team deserves the recognition before we talk about individuals!

Bullseye score -3371
3D score -1689

Great job kids. I’m so fortunate to be your coach!
