👨🏻‍🍳🔥 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL CHEF’S DAY! 🔥👨🏻‍🍳

Today, we’re celebrating Chef Trevor Sonnier, our incredible CMC Culinary Instructor! 🎉

Chef Trevor brings a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to the kitchen and the classroom. From founding the Urban South Brewery Food Truck to serving as Head of the Kitchen at The Velvet Cactus, his culinary journey is one worth celebrating! 🇺🇸 He also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, bringing that same commitment, discipline, and leadership into everything he does.

But when he’s not inspiring the next generation of culinary professionals at CMC, Chef Trevor is busy being a proud husband to his wife, Savanna, and dad to their two beautiful children. ❤️ He also spends his free time coaching a middle school wrestling team and enjoying the great outdoors through hunting and fishing! 🎣🦆

We’re proud to have a chef with such a diverse background, strong work ethic, and passion for sharing his knowledge with our students. Thank you, Chef Trevor, for helping our students turn their culinary creativity into real-world skills and future opportunities!

It’s Workforce Wednesday!

🎀💅CMC’s very own Ms. Tandra Howard shared her passion and knowledge of cosmetology with 8th grade students at Raceland Middle School today! 🪮💈

She gave a phenomenal presentation on hair, skin, and nails - the core of cosmetology, while also providing valuable information about customer service, infection control, salon safety and sanitation. To add to the presentation, Ms. Howard allowed students to practice some salon services by giving mini manicures consisting of exfoliating hands and applying a paraffin wax treatment. Some students were able to experience mini facials, by washing, toning, and moisturizing their faces, while others were able to demonstrate proper usage of hot tools like straighteners and curling rods on mannequins.

Students enjoyed learning about the cosmetology and barbering careers while engaging in salon services.

This morning, our teachers participated in breakout sessions focused on growing and refining their instructional practices. It was inspiring to see educators collaborating, sharing ideas, and investing in continuous improvement to better serve our students. 🍎📝🤝

This afternoon, we welcomed members of our Advisory Board and industry partners for meaningful discussions about workforce needs, program growth, and opportunities for our students. Thank you to our partners for your continued support and commitment to helping us prepare students for success beyond the classroom. 🎓🏭💼🔧

A day of learning, collaboration, and partnership reminds us that education is truly a team effort. Together, we are building brighter futures for our students! 🌟🙌💙💚💜
