Please join us this weekend in celebrating and thanking Patti Johnson for her twenty-six years of dedicated service as our St. Dennis Director of Music and Liturgy. Patti is officially retiring after this weekend. We will be ever grateful for all that she has brought to our St. Dennis Parish through her ministry - from teaching music in St. Dennis School, organizing and leading field trips to musical performances, directing both adult and children choirs, and, of course, enhancing our liturgical celebrations with her own unique talents.

Please join us in jubilation as we celebrate Patti’s beloved contributions to this great parish! This weekend (January 4-5), Patti will be in the Narthex after all Masses (under protest, we might add, because she doesn't want any recognition)!

Patti, enjoy your retirement, and thank you for all the great memories! Your contributions to our parish will never be forgotten. 🫶🏼

Cara Kucharski, a Class of 2021 St. Dennis Catholic Grade School graduate, was named a Class of 2025 Illinois State Scholar. Congratulations, Cara and all scholars!

Providence Catholic Principal Mr. Paul Houston is pleased to announce 51 students from the graduating class of 2025 have been designated as Illinois State Scholars, representing 29% of the class. These scholars are selected each year by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) based on their academic achievements.

See the full list of names here: https://www.providencecatholic.org/news/51-seniors-named-illinois-state-scholars/

The Illinois State Scholar recognition is awarded annually by ISAC, the state’s college access and financial aid agency, to high-achieving Illinois high school students. This year’s honorees join a distinguished group of scholars recognized since the award’s inception in 1958.

“We are incredibly proud of these 51 students and their hard-earned recognition as Illinois State Scholars,” says Mr. Houston. “This achievement highlights their dedication to excellence in and out of the classroom. These students are leaders and role models who are poised for success in their future endeavors. On behalf of the entire Providence Catholic community, I offer my sincere congratulations to each of them and look forward to seeing all they will accomplish in the years ahead.”

We would like to honor our previous St. Dennis School staff and faculty journeying in a new direction next year. Thank you for previously sharing your gifts at St. Dennis School. Our families are forever blessed by your love and service!

Ami Young

It is almost impossible to put into words what Ami Young has accomplished during her tenure as a St. Dennis teacher. When she arrived here, Ami already had a wealth of experience as an educator at other schools. She began as our technology teacher, then took on middle school science (for a time). Her interests expanded into STEM, robotics, and coding - all of which she learned and shared with our students. Ami built the Technology Apprentice Program (TAP) which developed St. Dennis students into on-site IT helpers and presenters at major tech conferences. Ami also developed the St. Dennis Career Fair and Maker Space. Whatever was needed, Ami jumped in and helped make it happen. In her free time (lol), Ami also managed our internal IT needs, from each SMARTBoard to every single iPad - Ami handled it all. Administration and colleagues could count on Ami because her loyalty to St. Dennis is matched only by her fathomless energy.

Thank you, Ami Young! 🫶🏼

Susan Vanisko

Sue arrived at St. Dennis after a long and successful career in the public school system. St. Dennis kindergarteners have been blessed by her kindness, silliness, and structured classroom management. Her heart connects with littles while still holding them to a high expectation of learning. Sue never gets ruffled - her calm demeanor and gentle smile have reassured St. Dennis kindergarteners and Sue's colleagues alike. A lifetime devoted to the education of our youngest comes with the reward of a retirement well-earned!

Thank you and many blessings on your retirement! 🫶🏼

Pam Pellicane

Pam earned her way into the hearts of St. Dennis 4th graders in yet another instance of instructional aide-turned teacher. Pam has worked to create a 4th grade environment that is as cozy as home yet not a moment of the day was ever wasted. Her 4th graders were constantly learning, whether they realized it or not, and countless amazing projects came to life under Pam's guidance. It is not easy to teach 4th grade, and yet Pam always made it look like a breeze. She became a beloved teacher; each year, students looked forward with glee to being part of her wonderful world.

Thank you, Mrs. Pellicane! 🫶🏼
