Many singers come into their first lesson with me expecting to spend their time doing a few vocal warm-ups, working on repertoire, and expanding their range or breath support.

And while we absolutely do those things...

One of the biggest surprises for my students is discovering that their voice isn't just their vocal folds and diaphragm—it's their entire body.

Before we ever sing the first note, we check in with the body.

How are we standing today?

Where are we holding tension?

How are we breathing?

What is our body trying to tell us?

Because our instrument is alive.

It changes from day to day.

A stressful week, poor sleep, a workout, hormones, anxiety, an old injury—even tight feet or hips—can influence how freely we sing.

That's why our lessons begin by preparing the whole instrument, not just warming up the voice.

This week, one of my students sent me this message after her lesson, and it reminded me exactly why I love teaching.

"This past lesson, I feel like I thrived! Starting with the new getting in tune with your body exercises, to the warm-ups and then the NG tongue singing... Girl dang. I feel like I'm finally seeing fruition from the work."

That right there is the goal.

Not just learning what to sing...
..but learning to understand the incredible instrument you've been given.

There is something incredibly special about watching a young child discover music.

At just 3 years old, she's not learning "perfect" singing—she's learning to listen, explore, move, and express herself with confidence. Every lesson is filled with songs, movement, musical games, and playful activities that help build the foundation for future music-making.

One of the beautiful things about introducing children to music at an early age is that they're developing so much more than musical skills. They're learning to match pitch, move with steady beat, develop body awareness, listen carefully, build confidence, and express themselves creatively—all through play.

Will every child grow up to become a professional musician? Of course not.

But every child can benefit from learning how to listen, create, communicate, and experience the joy of making music.

And sometimes...they'll remind us that the simplest songs can be the sweetest. ☀️💛

7-year-olds want to sing Disney. Teens want to belt Broadway. Adults want to jump straight into modern, jazz or classical repertoire. 🎶

**The Audition Experience** is a brand-new **3-hour performance and professional development intensive** designed to help singers feel confident, prepared, and ready for their next audition.

Whether you're preparing for **NYSSMA, school musicals, honor ensembles, college auditions, summer programs, competitions**, or simply want to become a stronger performer, this workshop is for you!

📸 Personal branding & first impressions
🎼 Audition etiquette & working with collaborative pianists
