Behind the doula scenes, something has been in the works. I have become a certified Girls Club teacher and launched Girls Club of Western New York .
As a doula, I educate and walk alongside women in their pregnancies, births & postpartum journeys, supporting them, giving them an ear, a shoulder, a pep talk, & all the information they need to make an informed decision. My hope is always that this support leaves them feeling heard, confident, strong, valued, empowered, & able to advocate for themselves.

🌹 So, why not start doula-ing the women of tomorrow, today?

As a Girls Club teacher, I educate and walk alongside girls as they navigate the confusing & amazing metamorphosis that is puberty. Girls deserve real talk, an ear, a shoulder, a cheerleader, and all the information they need to understand they own bodies, what their bodies can do, the changes they will undergo, and the beautiful ways in which their bodies will serve them throughout life. The goal of this course is for girls to leave feeling empowered, valued, confident, educated, ready to embrace & handle their bodies changes, and able to advocate for themselves and their bodies autonomy.

🌹 Imagine a world where women grew up already understanding their amazing anatomy, already knowing the tools to care for their bodies & minds, already trusting what their bodies are capable of, already knowing how strong and unique they are?

What a world that would be. So, starting this September, the Girls of Western New York will start to change the narrative ✊

🎶He came in like a wrecking ball ! 🎶

📸 Picture it: a first time mom, perfect pregnancy, educated, mentally & physically prepared, in tune with her body, trusts the process.

🏥 Enter: a medical system who deems her of "Advanced Maternal Age", starts talking about induction & membrane sweeps, wanting to put her on a timeline but providing no evidence as to why.

👏The Result: Mom declines induction, sweep, and all cervical exams, to be revisited at 41 weeks. Proceeds to go into spontaneous, precipitous labor and meets her baby in only 4 hours. 4. Has all of her wishes followed, surrounded by care & support, and ends the day happy, healthy, tired, in awe of her body, & incredibly proud of herself.

Preparing for labor & birth, and knowing how to advocate for yourself can 👏change👏the👏game!

From one "Advanced" momma to another, I salute you! 🫡

They had a long, hopeful, stressful, & sometimes heart-breaking journey to parenthood, but this strong couple finally welcomed their baby girl Earthside this week! 🙌🥰👶🏻 Two absolutely blessed moms, and one of the sweetest, chillest baby girls I've ever met. Happy Birthday, little one!

👏 An exciting new offering from UB! Now we just need to find a way to entice some midwives to stay & practice in the WNY area to expand options for families here. We need all the help we can get!

The seven-semester curriculum will prepare registered nurses for practice as certified nurse-midwives and will include clinical placements in midwifery practices and hospitals in Buffalo and in Rochester. ⤵️ Find a link to the story in the comments.

A sweet postpartum visit with two smitten new parents, and one adorable, chill baby.
This print turned out so beautifully, and his placenta will soon be returned to the Earth 🌎💚 Mama also received an herbal bath for some well-deserved relaxation & healing 💚 Wishing all the best for this perfect little family!

One of my favorite things to see as a doula is the birth (or rebirth) of a father. It is so special to see a man prepare with their partner during pregnancy, fully support and go through the experience of birth with them, and be brought to their knees with emotion when they meet their brand new child for the first time. Moms get the majority of the credit on this page (rightfully so 👏), but to the dads who show up ready to squeeze hips, hop in the tub, hold legs, speak affirmations, practice breathing techniques, advocate for their family, and then all the important work of fatherhood that comes after ....Happy Father's Day to you!! 💗

💗Special shout-out to my man, who braved a home-birth, even though it caused him a bit of anxiety, reinforced the floor for my birth tub, trusted me and the process, and helped me keep my sanity in those postpartum days right on through to today! !

This week I had the honor of saying "Happy Birthday, little one!" to a sweet little guy who shocked us all with his speedy arrival. Induction is not typically known to be a quick affair, but every process & every birth is different.

✨There is alot of fear surrounding induction, and rightfully so. It can be a long, daunting, often exhausting process. And everyone seems to have a horror story to share when you're on the precipice of having one 🫣

👉BUT, it can also be a welcomed, straightforward, empowering, and beautiful experience. Whether it's planned by choice or necessity, going into an induction armed with information, a great support team, and trust in yourself & your body can help make an otherwise scary process an experience to look back on with joy & pride.

This mama was educated about her choices, carefully chose a support team that truly supported her, asked all the questions, used all of the tips & tricks she had collected for months, and most importantly, believed in herself. She just didn't know HOW strong she actually was, but now she does. And she'll never forget 💗

A bright-eyed, sweet lil guy joined our ranks this week! 💙 His mama did such brave & amazing work to bring him Earthside, even when things didn't go exactly as planned. Labor can truly show you how strong you really are ✊👏

A new offering from Evolution Doula Services. As a woman, sister, doula, and mother of a daughter, educating women is something I am very passionate about.
💗 So many women have been/are raised to dislike, fear, misunderstand, or downright hate their bodies. It's taboo to talk about periods, discharge, mood swings, and all the other things 50% of the humans on Earth go through.
✊ In truth, the workings of the female body are incredible.
Awe-inspiring.
Powerful.
Sacred.
The reason we are all here.
And the Girls need to know it!
🪴 I am so excited to offer Girls Club classes in WNY and teach our girls how to care about, and care for, their amazing bodies & minds!
There is still training to be done, and I'm not yet sure exactly where or when these will be held (just details 😂), but stay tuned!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there on the job; loving, giving, planning, celebrating, grieving, watching, healing, supporting, laughing, crying, carrying, letting go, picking up, and all the rest of it. To all the mother's I have learned from and will in the future, I wish you the most beautiful (and hopefully, stress-free) Mother's Day.
