Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and out of an abundance of caution, SUNY Sullivan has decided to have a one-week delayed opening for the Spring '22 semester.

All classes will now start Wednesday, January 26th, 2022.

If you are an on-campus resident of Laz Levine Hall, Move-In will now take place Tuesday, January 25th, 2022.

We will make adjustments to the academic calendar throughout the course of the semester to make up for the delayed start. More information on this to follow. The Spring semester will end as scheduled with Graduation being held on May 14, 2022.

SUNY Sullivan is excited to announce the opening of an on-campus childcare center for the children of employees and students. Created in partnership with the Healthy Kids Early Child Learning Program, our Early Learning Center aims to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment for preschool children, offering guidance for developing minds and encouraging every child’s creative individuality. The Healthy Kids team will oversee all aspects of the childcare program. Enrollment is available for kids from the ages of 3 to 5. Children may be enrolled either full or part-time, with childcare available during campus class times. To enroll a child (or multiple children) in daycare, visit the link below. Chef/Culinary Arts Faculty

SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the full-time, tenure-track position of Chef/Culinary Arts Instructor for a tenure-track appointment beginning Fall 2021. Applicants should have knowledge of production of food and bakery items with a quality standard for commercial outlets, the whole food lifecycle from farm to table, sustainable food production systems, value-added food production, utilization of our on-campus organic farm, safe and sanitary commercial kitchen procedures, and experience in both Culinary and Pastry Arts. The applicant should possess 5-10 years experience in commercial food and beverage industries and previous teaching experience is a plus. These will be seated courses, taught on campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate will be a culinary expert committed to both the art of cooking and innovative teaching grounded in sustainable food practices, bakery production, and commercial food production. Your insights on integrating locally grown and produced food into private, institutional, and professional menus to offer creative, nutritious and healthful eating options will inspire students and the community to make thoughtful connections between farm production, food processing, artisanal products and cuisine. As a member of the faculty, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper use of College equipment by students while in the classroom.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in all levels of courses within the Professional Chef AAS, Culinary Arts AOS and Pastry Arts AOS programs.

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of five years of culinary industry experience and a culinary-arts related Associate’s degree;
Previous experience in a teaching/training environment;
Familiarity with local and seasonal sourcing practices and Farm-to-Table cuisine;
Familiarity with baking production or willing to engage in professional development in the kitchen.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 2 years concentration in culinary arts

General Business Faculty Position

The Catskill Hospitality Institute at SUNY Sullivan is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Business Administration to support our growing degree and certificate offerings in Business, Accounting, and Marketing. Professionals with graduate degrees in related disciplines are welcome to apply. Candidates must possess experience in real-world work settings and/or professional activities related to stated areas of expertise. This is a Fall 2021 start date. These courses are scheduled to be taught on campus.

Qualifications:

An MBA or relevant graduate degree required
Five or more years of professional experience in Business Administration, Accounting, or related fields.
Three years of teaching experience in higher education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach 15 contact hours of introductory undergraduate courses in Business Administration, Accounting, Purchasing, and Cost Control, as well as potential additional courses related to the applicant’s area of professional expertise.
Hold appropriate office hours.
Take part, as needed, in typical activities of a full-time faculty member, including the following: advising/mentoring students, developing curriculum, recruiting students, and attending division and faculty meetings.

Preference will be given to those candidates who exhibit a strong record of undergraduate teaching; high comfort levels with online and blended (hybrid) learning environments; excellent communication skills; and who demonstrate a willingness to support college commitments to a diverse student population by participating in student mentoring, online and evening teaching assignments, and collaborative partnerships with faculty and support services.
