Basilica of Saint Mary Montessori Academy Our mission is to create a strong, constantly evolving, mutually supportive partnership with parents Children are natural learners.

Our program is based on the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952), world famous educator, physician, and scientist who developed a method of education through research and experiences in Italy at the turn of the 20th century. Montessori discovered that individual children would progress at their own pace if placed in an enriched environment that nurtured human development. Our school environment is thoughtfully created by the teachers in order to allow the child to follow their interests and to develop skills and concepts using concrete, manipulative materials created by Dr. Montessori. Our approach of self-directed yet guided development is designed to help the child grow in self-confidence, independence, and self-discipline. It fosters respect for others and promotes a joy of learning. They are like sponges absorbing the world around them in a way quite different from adults. They absorb knowledge giving them energy to teach themselves in the Montessori environment guided by the teacher. Education then is a process, which naturally develops in the human being, not something the teacher does! Children are gifted by nature to exercise the skills they see practiced around them.

WEEK 8 – LITTLE ARTISTS AT WORK! 🎨

What a colorful and creative final week of summer camp! Our little artists explored colors, shapes, textures, and imagination through so many fun hands-on projects.
The children created beautiful abstract chalk designs, painted butterflies on canvas, made triangle snakes, watercolor turtles, textured caterpillars, and colorful chameleons that appeared to change colors as they moved them around their decorated plates. We loved seeing each child use their imagination and create artwork that was uniquely their own!

And of course, we couldn't end summer camp without one more Water Day! The children enjoyed splashing, playing with friends, and cooling off with popsicles—the perfect ending to a fun-filled summer! ❤️

WEEK 7 – KIDS IN THE KITCHEN!
What a delicious week at summer camp! Our little chefs had so much fun mixing, measuring, creating, and of course tasting their creations! From apple donuts and egg muffins to zaatar & cheese manakish, smoothies, quesadillas, banana pancakes, and chocolate banana bites, every day brought something new to the kitchen.
We ended another wonderful week with Friday Water Day, pizza, fresh fruits and veggies, and popsicles!
So much fun, learning, teamwork, and wonderful summer memories! ❤️

🎄☀️ Week 6 Summer Camp: Jingle All the Way...in July! ☀️🎄

Who says you have to wait until December to celebrate Christmas? This week, our campers brought the magic of the holiday season to summer with a festive Christmas in July celebration!

🎅 Throughout the week, our campers:
🎨 Created adorable paper gingerbread people
🌲 Designed beautiful pine cone Christmas trees
❄️ Made incredible salt-painted snowflakes—each one as unique as the camper who created it!
🎅 Built their very own movable Santa craft
We also enjoyed reading Christmas stories, singing our favorite holiday songs, and even dancing to cheerful Christmas music. It was a week full of creativity, laughter, and holiday spirit!
💦 We wrapped up another fantastic week with everyone's favorite tradition—Water Day! It was the perfect way to cool off and celebrate an amazing week together.

Summer Camp – Week 5: Splish Splash Discovery!

What a splashing good week! Our campers explored the amazing world of oceans and lakes through hands-on crafts, fun facts, and exciting discoveries.

From creating jellyfish sun catchers, sea stars, beaded octopuses, and colorful fish, to learning incredible facts about these fascinating creatures, every day was filled with creativity and curiosity.

One of the week's highlights was our Metroparks in-house program, "Shells, Scales, and Pollywog Tails." The children loved seeing different animals up close, learning about them, and even getting the chance to touch some of them!

We wrapped up the week with our always-popular Friday Water Day, enjoying sunshine, laughter, and lots of splashing fun.

🎉 That's a wrap on an incredible week of ! 🚀🔬💡

Our campers wrapped up the week by engineering solar sail prototypes inspired by real space innovations, solving the final clues in their forensic mystery, testing their billboard boats on the water, and earning their Camp Invention Patent Certificates after protecting their creative ideas.

Throughout the week, our young inventors explored science, technology, engineering, and creativity while building confidence, collaborating with friends, and discovering that they can solve big problems with even bigger ideas.

We are so proud of all they accomplished this week and hope they leave Camp Invention inspired to keep exploring, creating, and inventing! 🌟

Thank you to all of our amazing campers, families, and staff for making this week such a success. We can't wait to see you at our next adventure!

🚀 Day 4 of was full of problem-solving and innovation! 🌎🔬⛵

Today our campers protected their Space Labs from storms, designed improvements for their planets, solved their forensic mystery using DNA and other evidence, learned how to market their inventions with creative billboard boats, and explored how inventors protect their ideas through patents and cybersecurity.

It's been amazing to watch our campers grow in confidence as they think creatively, collaborate with friends, and tackle exciting STEM challenges each day!

🚀 Day 3 of was packed with creativity, exploration, and innovation! 🌎🔍

Our campers continued their STEM adventures by designing life-supporting planets for future exploration, analyzing fingerprints and evidence to solve mysteries, improving and branding their own inventions, and discovering how technology can be miniaturized to fit inside wearable devices.

Each day brings new opportunities to think like scientists, engineers, inventors, and problem-solvers—and our campers continue to amaze us with their creativity and teamwork!

🚀 Day 2 of was full of discovery and innovation! 🔬🌊💡

Today our campers put their STEM skills to the test! They raced planetary rovers while collecting samples, grew crystal trees, designed ocean inventions and pitched their creative ideas, investigated mysteries using microscopes and detective tools, and explored how technology helps keep information safe.

Every challenge encouraged creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving—and our campers rose to the occasion! We are so proud of all they are accomplishing this week.

🚀 Day 1 of was a blast! 🧪🌊🔍

Our young inventors jumped right into hands-on STEM adventures today! Campers engineered their own space rockets, became junior forensic scientists solving an animal mystery, tested their engineering skills with aluminum foil boats, and even created secret codes while brainstorming ways to make their community better.

The creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and excitement were incredible to watch! We can't wait to see what tomorrow's adventures bring. 💡✨

WEEK 3 - AROUND THE MIDDLE EAST

Our campers had an amazing week exploring the rich cultures and traditions of the Middle East! Through hands-on activities, they learned about the Arabic language, music, art, geography, and foods from countries including Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine.

From baking za'atar manakish, making hummus and fattoush, creating mosaic art, writing their names in Arabic, learning the Dabkeh, and enjoying Water Day, every day was filled with fun, learning, and unforgettable memories.

Thank you to our wonderful campers and families for another fantastic week of summer camp! We can't wait for more adventures ahead! 💙☀️
