This week, FilmAcademy360 mentorship students had an incredible opportunity to visit the Guggenheim Museum in New York City and see the impact of their work firsthand.

As part of the Guggenheim’s Mind’s Eye Program, our students help make artwork more accessible for visitors with visual impairments. Using Photoshop, they adapt images of paintings
from the museum so they can be printed onto swell paper. When processed through a swell machine, the printed lines and textures rise from the page, creating tactile versions of the
artwork that can be explored through touch.
During the visit, Barnel, Christian, and Aiden were able to view the paintings they had worked on alongside the tactile versions they helped create. They experienced the artwork as museum
visitors do, explored the swell prints through touch, and even had the opportunity to operate the swell machine and add additional textures to the pieces.
This experience allowed students to see their work in action and understand the meaningful role it plays in making art accessible to everyone. It was an inspiring reminder of how creativity, technology, and community partnerships can come together to create a more inclusive museum experience.

This weekend at the Garden State Film Festival, FilmAcademy360 student Jacob achieved something truly incredible. His film The Earbud not only screened, but also won an award for Voices of Neurodiversity in Cinema.

Jacob attended the event alongside his parents and FA360 staff members Alyssa Currey and Janine McCaffrey, making the moment even more special.

This recognition is a huge honor for FilmAcademy360. Opportunities like this allow our students to share their creativity on a larger stage and remind the world that individuals with autism have powerful stories to tell. Film gives them a voice—and audiences are listening.

Congratulations, Jacob! Let’s keep the inspiration going and continue creating amazing films.
