🎉 Proud Instructor Moment 🎉
A huge congratulations to two of our Livermore Martial Arts Academy 2nd Degree Black Belts who have demonstrated years of dedication, discipline, perseverance, and leadership both on and off the mat.
🥋 Missael (left) has been accepted to the University of Southern California.
🥋 Roman (right) has been accepted to New York University.
These are two of the top universities in the country for film and production, and we couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishments.
Black belt training is about much more than martial arts—it’s about developing the mindset, work ethic, and character to succeed in every area of life. These young men are proof of that.
Congratulations, Missael and Roman! Your LMAA family is proud of you and excited to see what you accomplish next. 🎬🎓🥋

One of my best friends, Rocky Abild, is competing in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu super fight on June 6th, and I couldn’t be more proud of him.
Less than a year ago, Rocky weighed 301 pounds. He set a goal to reach 170 pounds by his 50th birthday on June 6th—and he did it. That’s an incredible 131-pound transformation in under a year.
Rocky achieved this through incredible discipline and consistency. He embraced a One Meal a Day (OMAD) lifestyle, incorporated extended fasting and other fasting protocols, improved his nutrition, and made countless positive lifestyle changes along the way. None of it was easy, but he stayed committed to his goal every single day.
What impresses me most isn’t the weight he lost—it’s the determination, grit, and mindset he developed throughout the process. When most people would have quit, Rocky kept showing up and putting in the work.
His journey has been a huge inspiration to me personally. Watching him transform his life motivated me to make positive changes in my own life as well. He is living proof that it’s never too late to take control of your health and completely change your future.
Now he’s stepping onto the Fight 2 Win stage for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu super fight, on his 50th birthday. Win or lose, he’s already accomplished something extraordinary.
I’m proud to call Rocky one of my best friends. Please join me in supporting him and cheering him on. Let’s show him some love and wish him luck on June 6th! You can watch it on live stream! See link in comments:
Go get ’em, Rocky! 👊🥋🔥💪

Age 65. Age 63.
Most people would say it’s too late. Too hard. Too much.
But not Keith. Not Steve.
While the rest of the class completed a 3-day Black Belt test, they stepped up for 4 days.
Keith came in after wrist surgery last year.
Steve carried the weight of two shoulder surgeries—and a torn Achilles the year before.
Every movement had a cost. Every round demanded more than they probably had left to give.
Battered. Bruised. Exhausted.
And they kept going.
No excuses. Just heart, grit, and a refusal to quit.
They didn’t just pass a test—they proved something deeper. That strength isn’t about age. It’s about mindset. It’s about showing up when it hurts, when it’s hard, when everything tells you to stop… and choosing to go anyway.
They earned their Black Belts in Krav Maga.
