🙏 SEE YOU AT THE POLE 2026 🇺🇸
What a beautiful way to begin our morning at HCCA! 💜
Today, our students and staff gathered around the flagpole for See You at the Pole, joining students across the country in prayer.
Together, we prayed for:
🙏 Our students, teachers, and families
🏫 Our school and community
🇺🇸 Our country and its leaders
❤️ Those who are hurting or facing difficult times
🌎 Our world
✝️ And for God to guide us, protect us, and help us be a light to others
There is something incredibly special about seeing students of all ages come together, bow their heads, and pray. This is what HCCA is all about: faith, family, and putting God first.
We are so thankful for the freedom to gather together and pray. 💜

THIS is what we love about HCCA. 💜✝️
One of the most special parts of our chapel was watching our Seniors, Jeremiah Gray and Shanna Willoughby, lead their classmates in praise and worship. 🙌 And even more exciting? Other students are already asking to join them and become part of our praise and worship team! Seeing our students WANT to step forward, use their talents, worship together, and lead their peers is exactly the kind of growth we love to see.
And we are taking it even further! 💜 In both Middle and High School Chapel, our students will have opportunities to choose chapel themes and topics that are meaningful to them, prepare and present those messages to their peers, AND help lead praise and worship. We don't want chapel to simply be something our students sit through. We want them to be involved in it, take ownership of it, ask questions, grow in their faith, and eventually become the ones encouraging and leading others.
Our High School Chapel, led by Ms. Cheyanne, focused on something our students face every day: the constant search for something to make us feel fulfilled. We can look to relationships, money, possessions, popularity, or countless other things to fill that emptiness, but ultimately, the love our hearts are searching for is found in our Creator.
Students were reminded that even when we fail Him, run from Him, or feel unworthy, God still wants us. He loves us with an everlasting love, desires a relationship with us, and offers forgiveness, hope, and the opportunity to be made new. 💜
Our Middle School Chapel centered on 1 Kings 19:11-13 and Elijah discovering that God was not in the powerful wind, the earthquake, or the fire, but in the gentle whisper.
What an important message for our students: God does not always show up in the loud, dramatic, or flashy moments. Sometimes we hear Him most clearly when we become still enough to listen.
These are the moments that remind me exactly why Holy Cross Christian Academy exists. Yes, academics matter. Grades matter. Preparing our students for their futures matters. But helping them grow in their faith, discover their God-given gifts, understand how deeply they are loved by God, and giving them opportunities to LEAD matters too.
I am SO incredibly proud of our teachers and students. Seeing our kids listening, asking questions, studying Scripture, worshiping together, and now wanting to step up and lead one another makes my heart so happy. 💜🖤
This is HCCA. Students learning. Students worshiping. Students leading. Faith growing. ✝️💜

There is something incredibly powerful about the innocence captured in this photo. ❤️🇺🇸
She is only seven years old. She wasn't here on September 11, 2001, and she doesn't carry the memories that so many of us do. Yet, during our moment of silence this morning, she quietly bowed her head, folded her little hands, and prayed. Then, alongside our entire school, she proudly and loudly recited the Pledge of Allegiance. 🇺🇸
Today at HCCA, we intentionally made the entire day about remembering. Our students participated in lessons, activities, videos, discussions, prayer, and reflection about September 11th, the lives that were lost, the heroes who sacrificed, and the way our country came together.
Our middle and high school students were truly invested, listening, asking genuine questions, wanting to know more, and having thoughtful conversations about a day that happened before any of them were born.
And we couldn't be prouder of our teachers. ❤️ They poured so much into making today meaningful for every age group, helping our students understand not only what happened, but why we continue to remember and honor it 25 years later.
From the innocence of a seven-year-old quietly praying to our older students asking questions and wanting to understand more, today showed us exactly why we teach them.
Someday, remembering will be entirely in the hands of generations who weren't there.
We teach them. We honor the heroes. We remember those we lost. We never forget. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

This morning, our students and staff gathered around the flagpole to honor and remember the lives impacted by September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸
At 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the North Tower, we observed a moment of silence, followed by prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. ❤️🤍💙
Throughout the day, we made 9/11 and Heroes Day a special focus across our school. Students participated in age-appropriate activities, lessons, and discussions about what happened on September 11th, the incredible bravery and sacrifice shown by first responders and everyday Americans, and why it is so important that we continue to remember and honor them.
Please ask your child tonight what they learned about 9/11 and how they participated in honoring our heroes today. We hope these conversations help our students understand not only an important part of our nation’s history, but also the meaning of courage, sacrifice, service, unity, and love for our country. 🇺🇸
We remember. We honor. We pray. We will never forget. ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

📚✨ OUR READING INTERVENTION PROGRAM IS BETTER THAN EVER! ✨📚
Reading Intervention has been a special part of HCCA for years, but this year we’ve made it even stronger! 💜
In previous years, our Reading Intervention classroom had ONE teacher. This year, we have THREE teachers working with a maximum of only 12 students!
That gives our students an amazing 1:4 teacher-to-student ratio and allows for much more individualized and small-group instruction.
Our intervention team brings a great combination of experience and training.

📚 One teacher has many many years of experience specifically working with reading intervention
📚 Another has 8 years of teaching experience and is certified in Reading & ESOL
📚 3 teachers with only 12 students maximum

This special classroom is designed specifically for struggling readers in 1st–3rd grade, including students with dyslexia, signs of dyslexia, difficulty with phonics and decoding, or students who simply need more intensive reading support.
The classroom is fully focused on READING — phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, multisensory learning and, just as importantly, helping children build confidence in themselves as readers.
This isn't simply an extra reading period. This is a dedicated classroom built around helping struggling readers learn to read. 📖

📚 DID YOU KNOW?
Your child does NOT have to be enrolled in public school to be evaluated for an IEP!
Under IDEA Child Find, public school districts are responsible for identifying and evaluating students suspected of having disabilities — including children attending private and religious schools.

💜 HOW DO I GET MY CHILD EVALUATED?
1️⃣ Contact the appropriate public school district
Tell them your child attends a private school and you would like to request an evaluation through IDEA Child Find.
2️⃣ Make your request in writing
You can simply say:

“I am requesting a comprehensive evaluation under IDEA Child Find to determine whether my child has a disability and is eligible for special education.”

3️⃣ Explain your concerns
Share any concerns you have about your child's reading, writing, math, attention, communication, behavior, processing, learning, or other areas that may be affecting their education.

4️⃣ Complete the district's paperwork & provide consent
The district may request records or information from you and your child's school. A parent must provide consent before the initial evaluation is completed.

5️⃣ Your child is evaluated
The district will evaluate your child in the areas related to the suspected disability.

⭐ Your child can remain enrolled in private school throughout this process⭐

6️⃣ Meet to discuss the results
Once testing is completed, the evaluation team will review the results and determine whether your child meets eligibility requirements under IDEA.

💜 WHAT HAPPENS AFTER ELIGIBILITY?
If your child is found eligible and has an IEP or documented accommodations, Holy Cross Christian Academy will work with your family to follow those accommodations within our school setting.
Because Holy Cross is a private school, services provided by the public school district may be different from those available to a student enrolled in public school. However, your child does not have to leave Holy Cross for us to recognize and support their documented educational needs.

And at Holy Cross, a child does not need a formal IEP before we begin providing reasonable classroom accommodations. We believe every child learns differently, and we work to meet students where they are.
