Congratulations to the Judson High School Agriculture Applied Engineering team. The students placed 9th at the State Contest at Sam Houston State University.

The contest consisted of Welding, Cutting, Blueprint drawing and Interpretation.

Wagner High School welding 2 and senior practicum students competed in the Weld Wars at South Texas Vocational Institute recently where they did very well!

Eighty students from various school districts were in attendance for these rigorous events. Our CTE Wagner welding students were very competitive and came away with many prize awards for their efforts!

Various industry partners were also present to watch and inspect all student work throughout the event! They were very impressed of the skills students demonstrated and as a result several were offered opportunities for employment after graduation 👩🏻‍🎓! Thank you to Mr. Coronado, Welding Instructor for providing this opportunity to our students!

At Wagner High School, during the Cardiorespiratory unit in Anatomy & Physiology course, students dissected a sheep heart to get a first-hand view of a real heart. The class was tasked with identifying parts like the chordae tendinae, bicuspid and tricuspid valves, the atria and ventricles.

Students also participated in a lab in which they learned how to use the blood pressure cuffs and read results.

Animal Science is another CTE program of study offered at Judson High School. Students enrolled in the Practicum of Ag- Animal Science were recognized at a recent Converse City Council Meeting.

These students work at the City of Converse Animal Care Facility and are in the process of completing 300 internship hours required to earn their Certified Veterinary Assistant Level 1 Certificate.

At this clinic, they are able to gain experience by preparing and administering vaccines and medications. In addition, students provide care for new animals entering the shelter, observe surgeries and maintain the facilities.

Director, Joel Skidmore, is very proud of the work students are doing at the facility and the help they provide the shelter. He highlights that on top of the work they do, one of the interns painted a mural in the cat room to make it more welcoming and inviting, resulting in multiple compliments from staff and visitors.

Recently, Judson High School medical assistant students brought a little extra joy to the community while volunteering in the Dear Agency Farmer’s Insurance annual holiday community event. The students assisted with Santa photos and games. Having fun while giving of your time is a great combination of service to others.

Veterans Memorial HS - JISD Kicks off their Cosmetology Annual Princess Spa Day. Our young clients are being pampered with a mani, pedi, and a princess hair style. This event allows the 9th- 12th grade cosmetology students to practice their skills learned.
