Vertical Skills Academy

It was a busy end of year for Vertical Skills Academy! We had a visit from our friend and mentor, Garett Bolles, field day, and student-led conferences to share all the amazing growth this year! We are so proud of our students and staff for their amazing efforts this year.

On a personal note, I got to pass the torch of being Head of School to our amazing Academic Director, Michelle Gasser. Her love of students with dyslexia, passion for advocating and teaching them, and support of families is unrivaled. I feel confident that VSA's future is bright! I will continue on in a consultant role to support the mission and vision of VSA and hope that the many students, families, and colleagues that I have worked with over the past 4 years will continue to cross paths with me. You will also find me at our annual fundraiser, Rockin' Dyslexia, which will be held September 26th-- so Save the Date! We have something special up our sleeve ;)

Hi all,
Due to impending snow coming in and surrounding school districts being closed, VSA will not be open on Wednesday, May 6th.

Mandatory hot chocolate, reading, and snuggles per Ms. Amy and the staff orders. Enjoy the day off and stay safe.

It was another epic day at VSA! The students got to listen to award winning author Avi and his struggles with dysgraphia and how he overcame being told he was "the worst student (his ELA teacher) ever had." He has now published over 80 books, several of which our students have read! His kindness and perseverance really resonated with the kids.

We ended the day with a family event at Clement park that our amazing Parent Group put on. VSA is a pretty special place!
