Deer Creek Instrumental Music Award!
We are excited to share that Deer Creek Middle School was one of just 15 middle schools in the state of Colorado to receive the 2025-2026 Exemplary Band Award from the Colorado Bandmasters Association. This is a huge achievement for our instrumental music program under the leadership of Mr. Jim Sudano!
Congratulations to Mr. Sudano and our instrumental music students - you all are amazing!

Deer Creek Middle School Sports students participated at Jeffco League Meet for Track & Field and we had some outstanding performances!

2/2 Deer Creek Middle School Engineering!
Deer Creek student in engineering 3, Green Architecture, partnered with Hudson Gardens and Soul Dog Rescue to build birdhouses, dog homes and cat trees for the local community.
These students designed and built all of these homes based on the needs of the clients, all by themselves.
As we worked through this process, we had help with an advisor, Nathan Mencini, who was a tremendous help and mentor for our young students. We are excited that they will go to an animal in need.

Our wonderful student musicians, under the direction of Mr. Jim Sudano, capped off a very successful year with a fantastic concert for parents, family and friends on Wednesday evening.

Deer Creek Middle School Math Superstars!
DCMS is proud to offer the Noetic Math Contest (NLMC) to our students. NLMC is a leading national competition for elementary and middle school students (grades 2 - 8 )

Held twice a year, NLMC challenges students to think deeply, discover the beauty of mathematics, and build a strong foundation for advanced STEM learning. We celebrated our 56 students on May 12th who took part in the Spring test.

On Friday evening the Deer Creek Middle School Symphonic Band, Jazz Band and Advanced Orchestra performed in the 2026 Music in the Parks competition.
All three ensembles received a superior rating and first place overall. They celebrated with a well-deserved day of fun at Elitch’s on Saturday. Bravo to all of our musicians!

Deer Creek Middle School Art students had the opportunity to go on an amazing field trip!
Students started off at the Lakewood cultural center, where they got a behind-the-scenes tour and learned about stage craft and stage lighting, and then they had the opportunity to enjoy hundreds of pieces of art that are all part of the Jefferson County middle school art show.
Next, students traveled to the Arvada Center, where the Arvada Center staff took them on three gallery tours.
First, the Jefferson County high school art show, second, the Arvada center’s 50th anniversary show, and last but not least, a very special Jeffco alumni Gallery show featuring Jeff Gipe, and his work centered around the former Rocky Flats area.
Students also had a chance to play on the gigantic dragon at the Arvada center for a break! Our students were wonderful representatives of Deer Creek Middle school!

Deer Creek Middle School Mountaineers of the Month -April 2026

The Mountaineer of the Month award is our way of letting students know that we see them and that we appreciate them doing what is expected, and then doing more.

At Deer Creek Middle School we are guided by our PEAK Principles. Our Mountaineers of the Month have been nominated by teachers for exemplifying each of the PEAK behaviors. (Prepared, Engaged, Accountable, Kind and Respectful)

The nomination and voting process is taken very seriously and our staff work hard to ensure we nominate as many students as possible. The students that are selected as Mountaineer of the Month have made a strong impact on our community and have demonstrated exceptional PEAK behaviors.
