At Elevation Equine Therapy, our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment for participants to elevate their emotional, physical and psychological well-being through a connection with horses.

Horses respond to the energy, emotions and intentions we bring into their space because they’re highly attuned prey animals. Horses read shifts in our body language, tension, breath and internal coherence long before we consciously notice them ourselves.

At Elevation Equine, this is how we use that “mirror” during our Equus Coaching sessions:

• Immediate + honest feedback

A horse reflects what’s happening inside of us by how they choose to engage. If we’re anxious, guarded, unclear, or disconnected, they often show it through distance, hesitation, or lack of focus.

• Nonjudgmental reflection

Their responses aren’t personal, they’re informative. This creates a safe space for people to explore emotions without shame or pressure.

• Embodied awareness

Instead of talking about feelings, we feel them in real time. As we shift to soften our breath, find clarity and ground our energy, the horse shifts too.

• Learning through relationship

Participants begin to see how inner states impact connection, communication and boundaries. The horse’s softness encourages participants to meet themselves with the same gentleness.

In a horse’s calm presence, you’re invited to slow down, reflect, feel and meet your own truth with compassion instead of judgment.

So what exactly is equine therapy and/or coaching?

Well, to put it simply, it’s therapy or coaching with horses but I’ll elaborate a bit more for you.

There are many different types of Equine Assisted Therapies but almost all fall into one of four categories:

1. HIPPOTHERAPY

The use of horseback riding as a therapeutic or rehabilitative treatment, especially as a means of improving coordination, balance, and strength.

2. EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY

A form of therapy that uses horses to help people address mental health and emotional challenges.

3. THERAPEUTIC HORSEBACK RIDING

A recreational activity that uses horses to help people with disabilities improve their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

4. EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING

A type of experiential learning that uses interactions with horses to help individuals develop life skills. It’s not therapy, but rather a non-riding, facilitated approach that can be applied in educational, organizational, and personal development settings.

At Elevation Equine, we offer Equine Assisted Learning through Equus Coaching and Lifecoaching with Equine Partners. Our program is designed to improve communication, self-awareness, problem-solving, and emotional regulation through activities involving horses.

Any questions?

There’s something about being in the presence of a horse that makes it impossible to pretend.

They don’t need your words.
They don’t follow your stories.
They respond to your energy.

The horse doesn’t ask you to be perfect, only honest.

And in that space your nervous system finally gets the message that you’re safe to be exactly as you are.

The horse always knows. The real question is…

are you ready to listen?

There’s something about being in the presence of a horse that asks nothing…and gives everything.

Tamar described it as a surprise and blessing of peace and calmness — a steadiness when life felt like it was shaking. And that feeling afterward? That natural, full-body exhale that turns into a quiet kind of high.

Horses have a way of regulating what we can’t always put into words. Their energy, awareness and honesty meet you exactly where you are, without judgment.

Sometimes the lesson isn’t to push through…
It’s to pause, breathe, and let the horse show you how to hold steady.

Thank you for sharing your experience, Tamar!

SUNDAY HERD WISDOM

We don’t plan the week.
We don’t rush the day.

We stand in the wind.
We breathe.
We stay aware of the herd around us.

Maybe your Sunday afternoon is for remembering that you don’t have to carry everything into Monday.

Take a breath.
Let some of it go.

Horses don’t respond to titles, words, or carefully curated versions of ourselves. They respond to energy, presence, and intention.

You can’t convince a horse you’re calm if your body is holding tension. You can’t pretend to be confident if uncertainty is leading the way. Horses notice what’s real…and they respond accordingly.

That’s what makes time with them so powerful. In the presence of a horse, we’re invited to step out of performance and into honesty, to slow down, to notice what we’re feeling and become more aware of how we show up in the world.

And in that space of authenticity, something shifts. Awareness grows, connection deepens and learning happens in a way that words alone could never create.

Sometimes the greatest lessons don’t come from trying harder — they come from simply being real.

When you’re here, you’re welcomed into a safe space with no expectations.

You might find yourself wondering what that might look or feel like because it sounds so…foreign. And we get it, it’s maybe a lot different from what life typically looks like for many of us.

Your Equus coach will work within your comfort level to participate in activities with an equine partner that invite you to:

Breathe.
Notice.
Lead.
Soften.
Set boundaries.
& try again.

Your equine partner is here to respond and guide you — instantly, honestly and without judgement.

No riding required. Only your presence.

Come experience the magic & wisdom of horses. We can’t wait to see what lessons our horses have in store for you.

It’s official, the year of the horse has arrived.

In the lunar calendar the horse represents freedom, strength, movement and an untamed spirit that refuses to live small.

This is the year to trust your instincts.
To move when it’s time to move.
To pause when presence asks you to soften.

Horses remind us that power doesn’t come from force but from alignment. From knowing who you are and moving through the world with grounded confidence and an open heart.

At Elevation Equine we hope this Year of the Horse invites you into courageous authenticity, embodied leadership and the kind of freedom that begins within and our certified Equus coaches and equine partners are here to meet you whenever you’re ready.

Here’s to doing more of the things that elevate your life experience in 2026.

This is how grooming horses can help elevate YOUR life:

• Stress Reduction + Relaxation

Grooming a horse can be a meditative and grounding activity, helping you become more present and reduce feelings of anxiety and stress. The repetitive, rhythmic movements of grooming can be soothing and the physical act of caring for the horse can be a form of mindfulness practice.

• Emotional Connection + Bonding

The act of grooming provides an opportunity to bond with a horse, fostering a sense of trust and companionship. Horses are highly intuitive and can mirror human emotions, creating a safe space for you to explore and process your feelings.

• Improved Mood + Self-Esteem

Interacting with horses can trigger the release of endorphins, natural mood boosters, which can lead to feelings of happiness and well-being. The responsibility of caring for a horse, including grooming, can also instill a sense of purpose and accomplishment, contributing to increased self-esteem.

• Enhanced Emotional Regulation

Horses are sensitive to human emotions and can provide immediate, non-judgmental feedback, which can help you become more aware of your emotional state and develop healthier coping mechanisms. This can be particularly beneficial for those dealing with trauma, anxiety, or depression.

• Increased Social Skills

Groundwork activities like grooming can improve communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, as you learn to interpret and respond to a horse’s behavior. This can translate to improved social interactions in other areas of life.

• Mindfulness + Presence

Grooming requires focus and attention to detail, encouraging you to be present in the moment and mindful of your actions. This can help develop a greater sense of awareness and reduce the tendency to dwell on negative thoughts or past experiences.

GROOM MORE.
WORRY LESS.

02/11/2026

A horse’s nervous system is designed for attunement, constantly reading the emotional landscape around them. This means they sense our stress, hesitation, openness or calm long before we’ve put any of it into words.

In Equus coaching, this sensitivity becomes a bridge that invites us into a state of self-awareness. When a horse responds to us by stepping forward, pausing, softening, or moving away, they’re reflecting what’s happening beneath the surface of our own experience. Their feedback isn’t emotional or personal; it’s simply honest. And that honesty helps us see patterns we often overlook like how we carry tension, communicate, self-protect, and where we’re longing to open.

As we regulate our breath and shift our internal state, the horse shifts with us. This moment of synchrony is where healing begins. Our body learns safety again, mind finds clarity and our heart remembers how to trust its own voice.

The horse doesn’t force change — they create a space where change becomes possible, natural and deeply felt.

Horses don’t respond to who we think we should be or the mask we put on to hide the truth.

They meet what’s real in us.

• the tension we carry
• the breath we hold
• the energy we bring into the space before a single word is spoken

In their presence, masks soften and what we desire to perform, explain, or fix fades away.

This is where the work begins.
Not through effort, but through awareness.
Not by controlling the outcome, but by noticing our breath, posture, and nervous system and allowing it to settle.

When we stop pretending, something shifts.
Connection becomes possible.
Trust finds its way in.
And being exactly as we are becomes enough.
