Start your new year off with a helpful resource that was just recently published. The Piano Guidebook covers everything students need to learn between their first piano lesson and when they go off to college. There are also numerous items in the book that are especially valuable for any piano teacher. I have taught over 80,000 private piano lessons over my forty-one-year career. This book includes everything that I have taught to my students. Please consider purchasing copies for yourself and your students. The book is selling very well, and the response has been tremendous. Here is one sample of things that are included in the book. Happy New Year

THE EARS, THE EYES, THE BRAIN, AND THE FINGERS
Students need to realize the importance of teamwork between the ears, the eyes, the brain, and the fingers. If a person is playing by ear, they must first hear the music in their head. Then this information is sent to the brain. The brain will tell the fingers what to play. The sounds on the piano are then sent back to the ears. The ears will then send information back to the brain to convey if the notes are played correctly or not. When a person reads music, they must look at the piece with their eyes. The performer should then hear the music in their head. Then this information is sent to the brain. The brain will tell the fingers what to play. The sounds on the piano are then sent back to the ears. The ears will then send information back to the brain to convey if the notes are played correctly or not. Students will often make mistakes because they push notes down with their fingers without involving any other parts of their bodies. If students slow down and allow the ears, the eyes, and the brain to get involved, they will discover that their playing will be more accurate.
