John Adams Academy - Douglas County

We continue our series of faculty introductions today with Clare Brinkman. Ms. Brinkman is excited to be joining John Adams Academy – Douglas County as a 6th grade teacher. Originally from Naples, Florida, she earned a B.A. in English from Florida Gulf Coast University, with minors in Creative Writing and Medieval & Early Modern Studies, and an M.A. in English and Literary Studies from the University of Denver. She is currently pursuing a PhD in English at Indiana University, with minors in Religious Studies and Victorian Studies, while also serving as an Associate Instructor in IU’s composition program. Clare is passionate about literature, classical education, and helping students grow through stories and writing. Outside the classroom, she enjoys Victorian novels, Shakespeare, Broadway productions, and attending the Renaissance Festival with her husband and family.

Ms. Puls strives to create a classroom environment that both fosters academic excellence and builds character. She brings years of classroom experience across the first, third, and fifth grades, which includes teaching in the classical model at Addenbrooke Classical Academy. Outside of school, she enjoys reading historical fiction and thrillers, alongside outdoor activities like hiking and paddle boarding. Ms. Puls holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Colorado Mesa University and is currently working toward her master's degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Welcome to the JAA family!

Our crews continue to make amazing progress on our school, which will open for the 2026-27 school year on August 24th! As we order our curriculum and plan for professional development, the entryway continues to improve, our stairwells are being drywalled, and the north side of the building is coming right along!
