In a win closer than Seersucker stripes, Doug Helmstaeder and his band of Creek ringers brought home the Scottie and eternal respect from all who know TKO, the 5th Major.

Yes, my team tied for second, one stroke back, powered by Margie Kerr's versatility, Eric Helmstaeder's power and Steve Kerr's strategy/accuracy. I can't help thinking if I had contributed more than my sunny outlook, we could have won.

Connor Houtsma, 16 year old, Regis High School phenom powered his team to a tie for second with his cousin Will.

Few contestants were more fired up than James Houtsma who won the closest to the pin and the new Bugatti.

The merch was a hit, may we do a follow up order.

Challenging; Raccoon Creek Golf Course is the nicest non private course in the State.

We were blessed with a mid-seventies, sunny outing, cool evening for stories around the fire with a Colorado mountain sunset backdrop, epic.
It had an old school TKO feel; maybe we will see you at TKO XLV.

Forty-one previous TKOs without a rainout, I suppose it was inevitable that it would happen.

Raccoon Creek has agreed to give a rain check for all 144 competitors.

Tournament director, Liz Kerr, will email the person that signed your group in and Raccoon Creek will have a list at the course of all rain check beneficiaries. Details will be included in the email.

Although there were some promising scores posted, we didn't finish. Prize values will double for TKO 43 and the winner's trophy "Scottie" will spend the year with Liz Kerr. It is no less work/expense to host a rainout tournament, special thanks to the Raccoon Creek staff and thank you, all, for understanding.

TKO # # is coming around nicely!

Yes, we do have a few slots open for late entrees but they are filling rapidly. We have a couple vehicles (one of them is real sweet!) for closest to the pin and closest to the King (Elvis) and the complimentary contestant gear could be the best we have ever had!

Karl Ritz, part of the winning team last year, has assured me he will bring the coveted 'Scotty' trophy and I am expecting "The Rippa"* trophy to arrive any day.

There has been a shakeup on the leader board.

Kenny Coakley, of US Amateur fame, opted for new playmates in 2019. Sure, he will still be playing with babe wife Colleen, but Jesse Meyer, Lakewood CC star, and Cam ‘The Doctor’ Gunville, a Domer that Kenny wouldn’t have been invited if he weren’t a stick; this a team to contend with.

That leaves Erin Kerr Houtsma, Colorado Open Champion and husband James (Denver DA 2030) paired with his intensely competitive brothers Matt & John Houtsma. Erin & James swept a tourney at this very location last week, 3 eagles/15 birdies -21, nice outing.

For the past couple years Javy Maes has arranged a 50 person, 2 dance pole, party bus for tourney attendees looking for a safe, $10 ride to Javy’s own Monkey Bar (11th & Santa Fe) to go over scorecards. **Warning: TKO revelry coupled with Monkey Bar antics may cause crying in your beer syndrome for some seniors, consider yourself warned.

*"The Rippa", designed by Bill Gian, is the longest drive trophy, and will be inscribed with the winner's name, approximate yardage and come back every year. This award was named after the WalMart driver that Steve Reaves used to win multiple TKOs and is a way to keep his memory fresh in our minds.

An outside observer might be crying/praying for me after seeing all the rejection postings on my TKO Evite; I am a car salesman, it’s what I do.

In reality, I shotgun this Evite out to many people that I might not see or communicate within a year’s time and it is my way of saying that they are always welcome and if I’m not thinking of them, my database is. The beauty of a Sunday of Labor Day weekend play date is that we have a rotating list of attendees, it is a fresh event every year.

There are a few constants:
*Karl Ritz will finish in the running, that is a statistical given. Already Seersucker adorned from previous wins, Karl has enlisted hired gun Jordan Berge, also a previous TKO champion.

*Colorado Open winner Erin Kerr Houtsma will be again coupled with husband James (Denver DA 2029), adding Matt & John Houtsma to mix it up - a lot of talent that has yet to experience the feel of championship seersucker.

*I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you about the odds-on-favorite to win the TKO. Margie Kerr, possibly the best golfer on the roster, fastest woman in Colorado in high school. Steve Kerr, course proprietor, college star, my cousin. Tim Kerr unpracticed passionate, fun hack and ????. We are auditioning this slot as we speak
