GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB FUNCTION:
The Student Care Specialist is tasked to provide comprehensive, compassionate and collaborate care for student needs in consultation with the Dean of Students. As students are well-supported through unexpected or life challenging circumstances that impact one’s ability to succeed, this will increase retention and student satisfaction and further the mission of the Seminary to prepare men and women to engage the needs of the world. The primary focus of this role is to administrate clear, effective, student-focused processes and to engage with students in a personable and compassionate way that leads to the removal of barriers for persistence. Also functions as a key person in the implementation of departmental activities and initiatives related to improving student care and success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervise the initial referral intake process for student concerns, responding to student’s emotional needs, crisis intervention, and spiritual care by providing individualized services and working collaboratively with faculty and staff to support student success
2. Administer the maintenance and management of The Bridge, our online Student Success Network, including maintenance of case load and oversight of implementation across campus in collaboration with the Dean of Students. This includes being the expert in the administrative processes involved with The Bridge and utilizing this resource for key data acquisition considering institutional reporting needs
3. Track all academic integrity violations utilizing The Bridge software, directing reports to the Academic Dean and Dean of Students for review and follow up
4. Address all Department of State 504 compliance related academic accommodation concerns including the initial intake discussions and the upkeep and maintenance of student records and accommodation requests
5. Create and maintain student care resources (counseling lists, local medical care, etc.)
6. Supervise and implement the follow up and advocacy for students on academic probation to promote retention, including the direction of enrollment advisors with follow up
7. Support incoming students with high support needs, including conditional acceptance, through proactive engagement, resourcing and directing of collaborative support services collaboration
8. Equip and train faculty with resources and processes to address student care
9. Direct the use of the Student Financial Hardship Fund in coordination with Dean of Students
10. Serve as a DSO and support international students through student F-1 visa advising and I-20 maintenance
11. Partner with the Dean of Students to plan and implement Title IX compliance training and serve as a student advocate in Title IX cases
12. Participate as a key member of the Student Life team, being a key voice in discerning student needs and priorities and participating in various programming efforts such as new student orientation
13. Collaborate with department offices to improve student experience
14. Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Master’s degree and/or studies in Social Science strongly preferred.
· A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required
· Expertise in the use of Pharos products preferred
· Experience working in Higher Education environment preferred
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ required and a lifestyle consistent with the Seminary’s Community Values and Behavioral Commitment.
· Agreement with Denver Seminary’s statement of faith
· Prior experience in an office setting and working on a team
· Developed interpersonal skills. Ability and commitment to discern and maintain confidentiality.
· Experience with data analysis and assessment preferred
· Strong administrative skills
· Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form
· Self-starter and self-motivated with a desire to take initiative in a busy environment
· Able to relate well to diverse audiences
· Able to give careful attention to administrative details, working through frequent interruptions
· Accepts supervision, and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office working conditions including computer usage may require occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
