A Place to Be, Belong, and Become

There's something special about watching a new class of students step into their calling. This week, we celebrated Convocation and welcomed our newest students with an evening of good food, great conversation, and the start of lifelong friendships.

Formation doesn't happen alone — it happens in community. We're so glad you're here.

Join us Tuesday, September 1 in the Denver Seminary Chapel as we open the 2026–2027 academic year — faculty, students, and staff gathered together to mark a new beginning and recommit to the calling that brought us here.

Convocation is more than a ceremony. It's the moment our community pauses to ask: why are we doing this work? — before the syllabi, the deadlines, and the demands of the semester take over.

All are welcome. Come be part of the start of something.

Dr. Joey Dodson elected to SNTS

Ask Dr. Joey Dodson why he chose the New Testament and he does not pause before answering. "Jesus."

That is the same scholar who has just been elected to the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas, the premier international society for the academic study of the New Testament and early Christianity. Founded in 1938, SNTS admits members by nomination and election rather than application, which makes it one of the clearest signals a New Testament scholar's peers can send.

Here is the part that matters if you are weighing seminary: he still teaches. Students reading Romans in his courses are reading it with the person writing the Brill commentary on it, and they get the one-word answer too.

Our Charter refuses to separate intellectual rigor from spiritual depth. Dr. Dodson is what that refusal looks like in a classroom.

Fall classes begin August 31. Apply at: https://denverseminary.edu/masters-landing-page/

The standard does not change with the setting

"Even as a fully online student, Denver Seminary became a place of goodness and refreshment for my soul."

That is Brianna Brotzman-Aldridge on her MA in Christian Studies, earned entirely online.
Denver Seminary teaches in Littleton, in Washington DC, through the Korean Global Center, and fully online. The setting changes. What does not change is integrated scholarship, supervised practice, and faculty who know your name.

Our Charter does not separate intellectual rigor from spiritual depth.

Cohort and community

"We need each other to keep going, to pray for one another, to gain fresh perspectives, to be heard and seen and held."

That is Laura Smith, a Bible teacher and author earning her MA, describing her cohort.

Ask a student what carried them through, and they rarely name a course. They name the people.

Fall classes begin August 31. You will be studying alongside pastors, counselors, church planters, and lay leaders carrying something close to what you are carrying. Interested? Apply Today at:

What we measure
We measure our success by the flourishing of the churches our graduates serve, the joy their thinking produces, and the beauty of the gospel they embody.

Fall classes begin August 31. If you have been waiting for a reason to start, that is a reasonable one. https://denverseminary.edu/masters-landing-page/

The Holy Spirit led Joanne Sharpe's pastor to create a role overseeing women's ministry — and he knew she'd be the perfect fit. Director of women's ministry. Her team looked to her every week.

She led 22 women in ministry. She still did not think she knew enough to go to seminary.

And she still would not go.

"Who am I to teach or speak about the Word of God? I don't know anywhere near enough."

Years of praying about it. Years of waiting.

She finally enrolled at Denver Seminary. Here is what she knows now that she did not know then:
"I haven't mastered the Bible by getting a master's in Bible studies. I've mastered how to study the Bible."

If that question has kept you sitting on the sidelines too, this cohort exists for exactly that reason. Click the link in the bio to learn more. https://denverseminary.edu/masters-landing-page/

Most pastors who consider seminary run into the same wall: their ministries cannot be put on pause for three years.

Taylor Bronisz did not have to step away from his church or his ministry. He is the Family Pastor at Calvary Church in Albuquerque, and he is earning his MDiv online at Denver Seminary while continuing to lead there. The two are not running in parallel. What he studies during the week goes to work in his ministry that same week.

If you are serving somewhere and wondering whether this is possible, or you know someone on your staff who is, someone here will talk it through with you. Click the link in the bio to learn more.

People are looking for leaders they can trust, and hope that holds up under real life. Last night, Denver Seminary marked the close of the Seminary of the Future campaign — a milestone in training the gospel-centered leaders our world urgently needs.

Over the past three years, this campaign endowed four academic chairs, funded and strengthened dozens of scholarships, and rebuilt how Denver Seminary teaches at a distance — so pastors, counselors, and missionaries can stay in the field, on mission, as they complete their degree.

To the donors, alumni, and partners who invested in this vision: thank you. What you helped build will shape the Church for generations.
