Do you wash your can tops before opening?
Food safety in the kitchen is very important. One thing you may not think about is washing your can tops before opening them. Bacteria and germs can live on can tops and go undetected. Many hands touch the cans from the factory, shipping, wearhouse, shelf stocking person to customers in the store. Once you attach the can opener and put a hole in the can cross contamination can happen if the top is not properly washed off. What may be on the top of the can be potentially transferred inside the can. A quick rinse and wipe with a wet paper towel is important to cooking food safely.
