Shopping for back-to-school supplies? Don’t forget masks! Make sure your child has plenty of comfortable and clean masks and talk to them about how masks protect them, their friends and their teachers. The CDC recommends masks for children 2 years and older in public settings where it's difficult to practice social distancing.

The quarantine has limited our trips to the store, making canned and frozen fruits and veggies staples in our kitchens. But are these equally healthy as fresh? Good news! Canned and frozen produce is just as nutritionally sound. They’re usually canned or frozen within hours of picking, often at peak freshness. When selecting canned fruits, look for those packed in fruit juice rather than syrup. Low sodium canned vegetables are a good option for those who are reducing sodium intake.

Currently there is no evidence that the virus is transmitted via food. "Decontaminating" fresh produce in solutions such as soap and water, vinegar, or bleach is unnecessary and may result in more harm than good. Cold running tap water is the only agent that's needed to clean your produce. This helps remove dirt and reduce bacteria that may be present.
