Night on the Town!

We have made it to ! Our booth is ready and so are we! Roberts Elementary LRSD Jermall Wright EAST Initiative Don Roberts Elementary PTA Little Rock School District (The Eagle has been a hit. People have stopped by to sit by him for a photo op!)

What a great partnership EAST@Roberts has with Little Rock Parks and Recreation! We truly appreciate that they recognize the capabilities of our students and believe in their ideas.
Today we were honored to welcome Leland Couch, Director of Little Rock Parks and Recreation, to our classroom. He also brought several staff members whose expertise aligned perfectly with the project ideas our EASTies are developing.

A special thank you to Courtney Perry, Director of Safety Programs, for helping guide the group working on first aid kits for Two Rivers Park. Your input helped narrow their focus and they are ready to move forward and get started!

Thank you to Justin Dorsey, Deputy Director of Operations, for meeting with the students about their dog park project. Your suggestions about location adjustments, funding possibilities, and long-term maintenance will help move this idea forward.

We also appreciate JP Rogers, Parks Maintenance Manager, for helping turn a big idea for park recycling into a real possibility. The students are excited to begin coding and testing Micro:bits to develop a prototype soon.

Thank you to Chad Fougerousse from Planning and Construction for helping the team refine their turtle habitat project. Your recommendation for two separate habitats; one aquatic and one land-based gave them a clear direction. They are thrilled about bringing this idea to life.

And thank you to Mike Simmons, Outdoor Recreation Coordinator, for recognizing the need for fish habitats at MacArthur Park and supporting these students as they design and build them, even helping them begin gathering materials.

It was a fantastic meeting and a great day of collaboration. We’re grateful for such a strong partnership and for the time these leaders invested in our students and their ideas!

There were 21 brave students that participated in the Ralph Vines speaking contest today. 13 of them were Roberts EASTies and the top four winners, moving on to the next level, were also EASTies! So proud! EAST Initiative Jermall Wright Little Rock School District

Project Alert! These girls are working with The Old Statehouse Museum to create a kid friendly app for tours. They pitched their idea and prototype today and got some feedback.
