SISTERS UNITED
SISTERS United is a community-based initiative with African American sororities who are working together to decrease infant mortality in Arkansas.
In Arkansas, African Americans account for only 20% of the state’s births, however they make up 33% of the total infant deaths. Abbot Nutrition has recalled powdered infant formula produced at its manufacturing facility in Sturgis, MI, because of possible Cronobacter contamination. Parents and caregivers of infants should not feed their baby the recalled Similac, Alimentum, or EleCare powdered infant formulas. So far, there have been four illnesses and two deaths across three states (MN, OH, TX) in infants who received formula made at this facility. For more information go here:
