The Sturgis Academy finished up our Fall 2021 semester in person with a performance at Bale's 21st Century Showcase! So proud of these students. It's transformative for young people to have an opportunity to perform, to demonstrate a new skill, to have a benchmark or goal. Thank you to Bale Elementary for hosting our program for yet another term; we love you!!!
Ms. Katherine and Mr. Geronimo had three classes of 4th and 5th graders this semester as part of Bale's after school program. The students learned basic note recognition, interval ID, how to hold and use a violin and bow, and were able to perform a few songs with their bows on the violin strings. We cannot wait to see these students again in the new year ❤ 🎶

William Renfro, Age 5. William began violin lessons on August 24th, 2020 with Sturgis Director Katherine Williamson.
Yesterday was his 365th day of practice!!! Way to go, William. Students like William exist because of phenomenal parental support. Thank you to David Renfro and Leanna Renfro for trusting us with your son's musical growth and for instilling in him this routine. Giving a child the gift of music as a right and pillar of their life is absolutely magical.
Practice only on the days that you eat, as we say. Ms. Katherine is very proud of this kiddo.

A reminder that our concert has been moved to TONIGHT at 8:00 PM. This will be an outdoor event at Byrne Hall featuring Ms. Katherine Williamson, Mr. Drew Irvin, Mr. Timothy MacDuff, and Ms. Joanna Klett. ASYO's wonderful harpist Anna Lien (student of Alisa Coffey) will be joining our teachers as well.
