University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Science agents are trained professionals that provide Best Care training across Arkansas. Best Care is a TAPP approved training that supports Better Beginnings. Best Care provides 10 hours of training at no cost to the participant. Smoke alarms should be installed in every sleeping area, outside every sleeping area, and on every level of the home. It is not necessary to install smoke alarms in a garage, attic, or laundry room. Make sure no smoke alarms are installed with 10 feet of a kitchen appliance to avoid nuisance alarms.

Part of our team had an absolute blast at the Conway County Fair, where we got to help judge the educational exhibits! 🌟 It was incredible to see the creativity and hard work that went into each project—so much talent on display! From science experiments to artistic creations, we were blown away by the innovative minds in our community. 🏆✨

These incredible creatures play a crucial role in our ecosystems, yet they are frequently feared and misrepresented. Let's take a moment to appreciate their importance and learn how to coexist safely with them.
🔍 Why Snakes are Important:
Pest Control: Snakes help control populations of rodents and insects, which can prevent the spread of diseases and damage to crops.
Ecosystem Balance: As both predators and prey, snakes are vital for maintaining the balance of ecosystems.
Biodiversity: There are over 3,000 species of snakes, each contributing to the planet's rich biodiversity.
⚠️ Safety Tips for Coexisting with Snakes:
Stay Calm: If you encounter a snake, remain calm and slowly back away. Most snakes are not aggressive and will not attack unless threatened.
Identify from a Distance: Learn to identify common local snakes and know which ones are venomous. Use a guidebook or app.
Educate Children: Teach kids to respect snakes and not to approach or touch them.
