2022 CTE Spotlight Day for upcoming freshmen was held today! Eighth grade students were invited to join our CTE classroom and lab to visit with current AHS Medical Professions students about class offerings and opportunities through SkillsUSA. Students competed in filling prescriptions. And they learned about auscultation of the heart and lungs. CNA and Pharmacy Technician programs are two offerings for seniors at AHS that provide career opportunities upon graduation.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Please join us in the effort to . ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

Here is how you can you help?

1. Educate yourself and others.

Everyone knows a little about mental health issues but knowing the facts can help you educate others and reject stigmatizing stereotypes. They are not the result of personal weakness, lack of character, or poor upbringing. Understanding mental health isn't only about being able to identify symptoms and having a name for conditions, but dispelling false ideas about mental health conditions as well.

2. See the Person, Not the Condition.

1 in 5 Americans live with a mental health condition and each of them has their own story, path, and journey that says more about them than their diagnosis does. Whether you are a friend, family member, or community member, getting to know a person and treating them with kindness and empathy means far more than just knowing what they are going through.

3. Take Action.

Speak up for yourself or those that are suffering. Do not allow anyone to suffer in silence. Ask for help and encourage others to do the same. Now more than ever we need to find ways to stay connected. No one should feel alone or without the information, support, and help they need. Contact your child's teacher, administrator, or school counselor for more information regarding local assistance and resources.

And lastly, share this message and pledge to . ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

Today is Our AHS Health Science students presented handmade cards to the cafeteria staff today to show their appreciation for all that these amazing women do everyday. This past year has been a challenging one with all of the twists and turns, and unknowns that a global pandemic placed on our cafeteria staff at AHS.

When I say that these ladies have gone above and beyond this year to meet the needs of our students, you just have no idea what amazing things they have done. They have met every challenge with grace and a smile. Our students love each of them and are so thankful to have such amazing individuals standing in their corner. We at AHS are a team. And I am so thankful to have these awesome ladies on our team! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›
