We were joined by guests from throughout the state for a Welcome Reception for our new ASU System president, Dr. Todd Shields, on Sept. 16. Members of the ASU System Board of Trustees and chancellors from our campuses helped welcome Dr. Shields and his wife, Karen. Elected officials, cabinet members and many friends of the ASU System were on hand.

Arkansas State University System President Todd Shields and A-State Interim Chancellor Calvin White Jr. welcomed members of the ASU System Board of Trustees and Trustees Emeriti to the Jonesboro campus to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Judd Hill Center.

Contributions by the Judd Hill Foundation support operations of the ASU System Foundation’s home facility.

Trustees in attendance were Paul Rowton, Price Gardner, Gary Harpole, Carole Farmer and Heather Maxey. Trustees Emeriti included Johnny Allison, Larry Ross, Dan Pierce, Mike Gibson, Niel Crowson, Howard Slinkard, Steve Eddington, Florine Milligan and former Gov. Mike Beebe.

Members of the ASU System Foundation Board of Directors celebrating included Charlotte Razor, Sharon Davis, Scott White and Pam Kail.

Former ASU System President Chuck Welch and former two-time interim system president Robin Myers also attended.

As we remember the tragic events and losses of the 9/11 terror attacks today, we recognize a survivor – Arkansas State University alumnus Adam Staples – who spoke Tuesday at Little Rock Rotary Club 99.

25 years ago, Adam was a recent graduate and former student-athlete in the track and field program at A-State. The Piggott native was in training with Morgan Stanley in the World Trade Center south tower and evacuated from the 61st floor prior to its collapse.

A number of A-State alumni who are Rotarians were on hand to hear Adam's story of courage and faith.

Arkansas State University System institutions reported strong 11th-day preliminary fall total enrollment growth of 6.8% with multiple record-setting performances, System President Todd Shields announced today.

“All seven of our institutions had an overall enrollment increase, including record enrollment for Arkansas State and an historic freshmen head count at Henderson State,” Shields said. “I’m very proud of our teams throughout the state. Our institutions continue to work to meet students where they need us, from traditional residential campus experiences to workforce training to robust online options.”

Total ASU System preliminary 11th-day enrollment was 32,366, up 2,069 students or 6.8% compared with official final enrollment of 30,297 in fall 2025.

Arkansas State University enrollment rises 4.7% to 18,775, sets new fall record.

“Arkansas State is increasingly becoming a university of choice for students from across our state, region and beyond,” said Interim Chancellor Dr. Calvin White Jr. “This growth underscores the opportunities we are creating, the investments we are making in our students and programs, and the work of our faculty and staff to make this campus a place where students want to learn, live and build their futures.”

Overall, the university welcomed 2,247 freshmen this fall, including 2,045 domestic first-year students at the Jonesboro campus, a 5.9% increase over fall 2025.

Arkansas students continue to make up the overwhelming majority of A-State’s incoming class. A record 1,851 Arkansans enrolled this fall, accounting for more than 82% of the freshman class.

We're proud of our board chair and Henderson State University alumnus, Bishop Robert Rudolph Jr.!

Bishop Robert Rudolph is carrying two jobs of great responsibility.

He is a chairman of the seven-member Arkansas State University System board of trustees and a chief recording and records officer of the Church Of God In Christ Inc.
