The UAMS MHA Student Association is proud to announce the success of our Annual Toy Drive. Our student association successfully brightened at least twenty children’s Christmas season.

Special thank you to our philanthropy officer, Brandon Burdette, for organizing this amazing project. The MHA Student Association appreciates every contribution, and we look forward to bringing joy to more children next year!

We’re proud to share that the MHA Program recently partnered with AR Kids Read to support childhood literacy! We donated 11 books and raised $130 to purchase even more books for the incredible kids at Wordsworth.

Promoting literacy is a powerful way to invest in our community’s future, and we’re so grateful to everyone who helped make this possible. Here’s to building brighter futures—one book at a time!

🏇 MHA Student Association at the Arkansas Derby! 🏇

This past weekend, the MHA Student Association was thrilled to host friends, faculty, and alumni at the Arkansas Derby! Attendees from multiple programs within the COPH came together at the MHA tent for a fantastic day of racing, networking, and fun.

With over 50,000 people at the races, our infield tent provided the perfect spot to connect, enjoy great food and refreshments, and be right next to the action! 🎉🏆

Reflecting on an Incredible (March 24–27, 2025)

The was truly inspiring! We are happy to announce our participation in an organization that fosters community and professional development for healthcare leaders.

Melissa Yandell, PhD, MHA connected with many amazing leaders that week, and we are proud of our students, Trey Just, Nathan Oliver, Desiree Johnson, and Mia Moore for their active participation and commitment to continuous learning.

We are excited to announce the 2025 K-5 Book Drive, presented by UAMS MHASA, AR Kids Read, and Wordsworth! This initiative supports young readers by providing them with access to books that inspire learning and creativity.

Book Drive Dates: March 18th – April 18th

How You Can Participate:
Purchase Books at Wordsworth – The store will donate directly to AR Kids Read when you buy books from them.
Donate Gently Used Books – Drop them off at the MHA Office, RAHN Building, 1261.
Make a Monetary Donation – Funds collected will be used to purchase books at Wordsworth. You can contribute via Venmo or CashApp at UAMSMHASA.

Your support will make a meaningful difference in fostering a love for reading among young students!

We are thrilled to announce that Kaylee Buth, Mackenzie Coates, and Peyton Jobe represented UAMS and our MHA Program at the 19th Annual UAB Health Administration Case Competition in Birmingham, AL!

Competing against 40 CAHME-accredited MHA programs, our team reached the semi-finals and placed among the top 12 teams—a remarkable achievement!

A huge congratulations to our students and Dr. Jure Baloh for their hard work and dedication. We are so proud of you! 👏🎓

We are thrilled to announce that three of our outstanding MHA students—Mackenzie Horrell, Peyton Jobe, and Kaylee Buth—represented UAMS at the 14th Annual MHSA/MHA Regional Case Competition hosted by the University of Kansas Medical Center on November 8, 2024!

They were joined by Dr. Stephen Bowman, who provided mentorship and guidance as they tackled real-world healthcare management challenges alongside peers from across the region.

📢 We’re excited to share that our MHA students and Dr. Yandell attended the Arkansas Hospital Association's 2024 Annual Meeting on October 30-31 at the Little Rock Marriott! This event offered an invaluable opportunity for our students to connect with healthcare leaders, gain insights into the latest industry trends, and expand their professional networks. We hope that all attendees had a productive and inspiring experience at this year’s AHA meeting!

This past Sunday, 9/8, at 1:30 PM, the Arkansas Travelers took the field for their last home game of the year—and it turned out to be a perfect day for baseball! The weather was ideal for soaking up the sun and enjoying America’s favorite pastime.

Fans didn’t miss the chance to cheer on the Travs one last time this season. Whether they were die-hard fans or just looking for fun, everyone had a blast at the game!

It was a memorable day filled with great plays and good company. ⚾️
