The UA Little Rock Center for Arkansas History and Culture is housed in the Bobby L. Roberts Library in downtown Little Rock, the state’s largest facility dedicated to the study of Arkansas history and culture. Materials in the archives include letters, legal documents, photographs, maps, architectural drawings, pamphlets, books, journals, newspapers, and other materials. In total, the collections
comprise about 10,000 linear feet, 70,000+ images, and approximately 8,000 books. Through its connection to the university, the archives benefit from the rigorous scholarship of our faculty, creating a valuable resource for students, researchers, stakeholders, and the general public. The center’s archival materials include letters, legal documents, photographs, maps, architectural drawings, pamphlets, books, journals, newspapers, and other materials.

Second from the left sitting is future Arkansas governor Jim Guy Tucker during one of his stints as a war correspondent during the Vietnam War. Tucker served in the Marines before being discharged but still found a way to make it to Vietnam as a correspondent.

The Kerry Kennedy papers are now available for research! Thanks to Graduate Assistant James Youngblood for his work processing her papers. Kennedy was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a notable playwright and screenwriter from the UA Little Rock Theatre Arts. Come check out her amazing work!

Archival Assistant Mikaela Bailey recently finished processing the Bob B. Ashton papers, UALR.MS.0321. Bob Ashton was an accomplished musician and composer who had over 300 published works. He also had a passion for teaching and creative writing.

Makes you think all the world's a sunny day! First made available in 1935, Kodachrome allowed amateur filmmakers and photographers to capture the full color spectrum. And archivists love it because the colors don't fade! This 16mm film from the Feild family was shot around 1947.

On June 1, 1961, the workers of Furniture Workers Local 270 went on strike against the Fort Smith Chair Company. The company fired 202 of the strikers; the National Labor Relations Board later ruled those firings illegal and ordered that the workers be rehired and given back pay.
