Mrs. Scott’s Physical Science students recently completed an exciting engineering design challenge for their semester exam that combined the physics concepts they have learned all semester long!
Students were tasked with creating a payload to protect a light bulb so that it stayed intact AND lit up after being dropped. The catch? Students could ONLY use LEGOs to design and build their payloads! 🧱💡
Before testing with the light bulb, students had the opportunity to test their designs using an egg to help improve and redesign their structures. Throughout the project, students applied real-world physics concepts by collecting data and calculating velocity, force, acceleration, and momentum. Students also completed a lab report analyzing their findings and explaining the science behind their designs.
To add an extra level of competition, each class period had a challenge: the student or pair with the LOWEST mass payload whose light bulb stayed intact and lit up won a prize! 🎉
Huge shout out to the winners in each class period for their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills! We are so proud of all of our students for their hard work, perseverance, and innovation throughout this project. 🔬⚙️💡

As we approach the end of the school year, we need to clear out all student medications from the PHMS health room. Medications cannot be kept at the school over the summer.
Please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication—including daily prescriptions, seizure medication, emergency inhalers, and EpiPens—by the last day of school this Thursday 5/21/2026.

The 8th grade promotion ceremony is scheduled for May 14th from 5:30-7:30. Parents, the ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 and seating will be limited. We strongly encourage all guests to be seated no later than 5:20 p.m. so as not to miss the student processional.
