In in-home care, PCAs need to balance friendliness with professionalism. Building rapport is important, but sharing personal details like family issues, finances, or private life can blur boundaries, create emotional dependence, or shift focus away from the client’s needs.

Keep conversations client-centered, offering support without over-sharing. If personal questions come up, give brief, neutral answers and gently redirect. Clear boundaries help maintain a safe, respectful, and professional care environment.
