The Cooper Promise Scholarship is a one-time scholarship for students who are or will have recently enrolled or transferred to UA Little Rock. The recipients must declare a major in one of the English program tracks (literature, creative writing, or secondary education). This scholarship is funded through the William G. The Cooper Honors Program for English Majors is now accepting applications! English majors with a 3.5 or more GPA can submit an application in Scholarship Universe. To apply, you have to write a literary or creative research project while working closely with a faculty mentor.

The deadline to apply is December 4th.

Brian Turner is the author of five collections of poetry (including Here, Bullet and The Wild Delight of Wild Things) and a memoir (My Life as a Foreign Country). His poems and essays have been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, National Geographic, Harper's, among other fine journals, and he was featured in the documentary film "Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience," which was nominated for an Academy Award. A Guggenheim Fellow, he has received a USA Hillcrest Fellowship in Literature, the Amy Lowell Traveling Fellowship, the Poet's Prize, and a Fellowship from the Lannan Foundation.

Join us on November 14th at 2 P.M. in Gallery 1 of the Fine Arts building for this great opportunity to hear about the creative process and the career of Brian Turner.

πŸ“š Let's give a warm welcome to Jared Lemus! πŸ“š

We will be hosting a Q&A and reading featuring Jared Lemus on October 3rd at 2:00 - 4:00 PM, in Gallery 1 of the Fine Arts building. He is the author of the short story collection, "Guatemalan Rhapsody" (Ecco-HarperCollins 2025). His work has been published in The Atlantic, Story, The Pinch, and The Kenyon Review!

Come for the reading and stay for the party! We'll celebrate the launch of our student literary magazine, Equinox, with appetizers and a selection of readings from the latest issue. These events are free and open to everyone.
