Julian and Jaxon Academy Demands Immediate Release of Withheld Federal Funds

Little Rock, Arkansas – Julian and Jaxon Academy, the only African-owned private school in the Education for All (EFA) Education Freedom Accounts program, is calling for the immediate release of federal funds designated for three of its students. These funds have been unjustifiably withheld since April 9, 2024, by Mr. Darrell Smith and his colleagues, without any legal or lawful explanation.

The Academy, led by the youngest owner in the program, suspects that this withholding of funds is discriminatory in nature. On April 23, 2024, Mr. Smith threatened to remove Julian and Jaxon Academy from the program, further raising concerns of retaliation and conspiracy against the school's rights.

Despite reaching out to Jacob Oliva, Commissioner of the Arkansas Department of Education, on April 22, 2024, no response has been received, and the funds remain unreleased. Julian and Jaxon Academy is now demanding that the funds be processed and released within 3 business days to avoid further escalation and potential legal action.

"We are committed to resolving this issue amicably but are prepared to take legal action if necessary to defend our students' rights," said Mrs. De'dra Thompson, CEO of Julian and Jaxon Academy.
