We wanted to make our families aware that Valorous Academy is exploring participation in the new federal Education Freedom Tax Credit program beginning in 2027.

Under this program, taxpayers may be able to direct up to $1,700 (or up to $3,400 for married couples filing jointly) toward educational scholarships rather than sending those funds to the IRS. These funds would be directed to a Scholarship-Granting Organization (SGO), which would partner with schools to disperse scholarships.

When the ESTF program was first being developed, we carefully considered which potential program requirements aligned with our school values and which requirements we would not be comfortable accepting. We are taking that same careful approach with this new tax credit program.

Before deciding whether Valorous Academy will participate, we want to ensure the program aligns with our values, allows us to maintain our independence in areas such as curriculum, and does not limit our vision of building students into their God-designed purpose through education.

SCISA and ACSI have provided guidance to their schools, and our office is currently reviewing that information, as well as potential SGOs to partner with. As we learn more and make decisions regarding participation, we will keep our families informed.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. We are hopeful that this program may provide another opportunity to make Christian education more accessible to both current and future families.

🎗️ Throughout Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, our school community came together to raise $630 for Whip Pediatric Cancer through our Heart of Gold campaign.

We are so thankful for every family who supported through prayer, donations, or spreading awareness.

For perspective, $25 is often enough to support about an hour of childhood cancer research. Our $630 fundraiser will help Whip Pediatric Cancer support hours of research, care kits, and other resources for children and families.

And there’s still time to give! If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, our Valorous Academy Heart of Gold page is still open:

https://whippediatriccancer.org/heart-of-gold-schools/valorous-academy-little-river-south-carolina/

🎗️Thank you for helping us turn awareness into action and make a difference for children and families impacted by childhood cancer.

🎗️🩷As September comes to a close, we’re also looking ahead to Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, in honor of Dr. Kilpatrick. Throughout the month, especially during Spirit Week on October 26-30, we’ll be supporting those currently undergoing breast cancer treatment through HOPE Kits from the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

You will have the opportunity to help by purchasing items for HOPE Kits or sponsoring a full kit. We’ll share more details soon!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Grandparent Celebration last week! It was so fun celebrating the grandparents and special grandparent figures in our students’ lives. Our students worked hard preparing for their performances, and we loved seeing them share their songs, dances, and joy with you!

Psalm 145:4 (NLT) - “Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power.”

Exciting news to share! Valorous Academy has successfully earned re-accreditation through Cognia and SCISA!

During their visit, the review team recognized the strong teaching, student engagement, leadership opportunities, positive learning environments, and meaningful relationships that make Valorous so special.

🌟Now in our ninth year, we were especially excited to hear that our classroom observation results were comparable to those of schools established decades ago!

The review team also highlighted how our mission, vision, and school values of Leadership, Courage, Integrity, and Strength are woven throughout our campus and, more importantly, reflected in the actions of our students. We love that they saw those values being lived out, not just displayed on our walls.

We are incredibly proud of our teachers for the work they pour into their classrooms every day and of our students for showing the review team what it means to be a Valorous Falcon!

🌟A special shout-out to our student ambassadors, who escorted the review team around campus and received special recognition for their professionalism and maturity.

💙 Go Falcons!

🐾 Congratulations to Marissa, our first Junior K9 Officer of the school year!

The North Myrtle Beach Police Department’s Junior K9 program recognizes K-5th students who demonstrate good behavior, work hard academically, have good attendance, know right from wrong, and stand against bullying.

Marissa faithfully serves on our Safety Patrol, works hard in the classroom, treats others with kindness and respect, and consistently looks out for those around her. Her dependability, positive attitude, and heart for serving others make her very deserving of this recognition.
