Big thinkers in small packages — second graders are discovering how the world works! 🌱 In second grade, students read to learn, write organized paragraphs, and tackle addition and subtraction with larger numbers. Social studies focuses on local communities, maps, symbols, and basic economic ideas like wants versus needs. Science explores life cycles, habitats, and simple forces through hands-on investigations. Curious, creative, and ready to grow — first grade is where learning takes off! 🚀 First graders strengthen reading skills with picture books, practice writing complete sentences, and add and subtract within 20 in math. In social studies, they learn about community roles, local history, and how people work together. Science focuses on observing patterns and testing simple ideas. These learning opportunities connect to build confidence, independence, and a deeper sense of community. 📘✏️🎶

Not only are we beginning cursive, but we are also starting novel studies with classics such as “Holes” and “Charlotte’s Web!” We also enjoyed a visit from HCS Superintendent, Mr. Jones!

Ready for a year of wonder and discovery? 🌟 Kindergarteners will explore the world through stories, play, and hands-on learning! They’ll build foundational reading and speaking skills, practice handwriting to form letters correctly, count and sort objects to start number sense, learn about plants, animals, families, and community helpers in social studies, and practice moving safely during active play. These experiences make school feel like an adventure while building strong early-literacy and social skills. 🎨📚🏃‍♀️

We are excited to announce that Ms. Theresa Lewis will be our new third grade teacher in place of Mrs. Bowling who is returning to fifth grade! Ms. Lewis previously taught in our building when the school was North Myrtle Beach Elementary. She also taught at Waterway Elementary before moving back north for a few years.

If you have any questions about who your child's teacher is, please call our office Monday through Friday between 8 am and 3 pm. Your child must be fully registered to find out who their teacher is. Child Development and Kindergarten teachers are personally reaching out to families via phone.
